SURVEY: PLEASE RESPOND ASAP
Good am all,
I'd like to ask EVERYONE to take some time to provide some important feedback, suggestions, concerns, etc. regarding Addiction Transfer. Please do so here in a reply or via PM and/or email at [email protected].
What suggestions do we have that we would like to see our surgeons, nurse practitioners, support groups, nuts etc implement in the weight loss surgery journey regarding Addiction Transfer?
What can we do to help them better prepare us as patients and them as doctor's throughout our journey to come TOGETHER and provide the best knowledge, support and care we can?
It's important that we come together as a community and really and truly give this a voice and do our best to provide one another with anything and everything we can to be as successful as possible during our journeys.
I appreciate everyone taking the time and effort to respond. This is an incredibly important topic of discussion and we will all benefit from the knowledge we will receive. So, let's be heard! I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!!

Personal experience would speak the best, even if it needs to be done anonymously. Each person has their own struggle and own demon. Its easier to point fingers at others for what they do , forgetting the 3 fingers pointing back at yourself. Honest, sincere, willingness to help is what is needed from peers, and the folks at surgeons office at every level. There are so many levels and different types of transfer addiction that I hate to see some pointed out and others not mentioned, maybe because the person may be in DENIAL that they are there right in the middle of the process. I'd like to see others be aware that if you continue to support people around you in what they do, they wont be honest about it, think its ok and certainly why would they look to someone for help that was more screwed up than them. I dont think people will go running to someone for help that has on a high and mighty hat,or has the problem themself in one form or another.
Surgeons office having a seminar devoted directly to the issue would be great but know that takes time, money, commitment to participation and what not. Even a board here about it would be great. A system to where they can remain anonymous at it here would be great. There are many that would read and just judge. Others that would want to help them all without any training, awareness of personal issues would only be saying what they think people want to hear, just my opinion. Relating your own experience to people would be much more effective.

Shannon, I whole heartedly agree that personal experiences would truly benefit us in ways we cannot yet see. I absolutely want experiences with the expressed notation that confidentiality is a given. If someone doesn't want to use their name I'm 100% fine with that. If they do want to I'm 100% fine with that as well. I will copy what you've put here as part of the feedback as well. Anything else you want to contribute will be embraced as well.

Hi Kat! Just know that your mind and the way it thinks and how you are able to express yourself is very touching. That being said. You know that I am just 4 months out. I'm not sure that I am able to speak on this in a manner that would be helpful or effective but I am going to ponder over this and see if I have any advice, suggestions opinions that would be helpful or beneficial. As someone said, personal experience is a great tool and teacher and me having little experience at this WLS thing, I want to make sure my thoughts are clear. But I do think you have opened up a GREAT topic!
