PCP Suggestions in Richmond Needed

Hi everyone! I was informed this morning that my PCP will be closing its doors in September, ironically on my b-day!! I have an appointment before the office closes, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations for a wls friendly PCP in Richmond. My insurance will change to a BCBS PPO in Jan, so I am pretty flexible as far as in or out of network issues.

This news comes as a blow to me (no warning mind you), but as it is beyond my control I have to ensure that my wls efforts continue. It doubly sucks because I am in the midst of my six month medically supervised diet plan. If I have to start over in Jan, then so be it, but of course I would rather continue without a break.

Anyway, any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!!!!!

I can highly recommend Dr. David at Richmond Family Practice in the west end.  His number is 804-288-3001.  They have great office hours, an urgent care facility with even better hours and staffed byt the same doctors we see at the office, are very supportive and helpful for WLS paitents and easy to get an appointment with.

A word of advise about the PPO plan...you are not strictly limited to in network or put of net work doctors but you are responsible for paying more out of pocket if you see an out of network doctor.  Please be careful of this.  I work for Anthem so let me know if you need any help!

Tammy this is a huge help!!!

Once this PPO is my first, but I'm going to do what I can with it. I prefer in network docs to keep costs down. Again thank you, I will give them a call to see if they are accepting new patients.

The other doctors are great in the practice, too.  I just have Dr. D. as my PCP.  I have an HMO.  I did have PPO, so I know all about them and I am a benefits administrator for PPO polocies now.  Let me know if I can help.  What surgeon are you planning on using?
