Hey guys,
Still nauseas and the at home ivs and nausea medicine and not working so the last resort is putting a feeding tube in. If still sick on Monday this is when I will be getting it. I wondered if anyone has gone through this. What do they do to you? I am just scared and looking for some advice. Thanks so much!

Hi Brooke - I have never had one but a friend of mine did and she credits it with saving her life!  I know it is scary for you right now but it will make sure all your nutrients are getting to you. Hang in there......... I hope you do not need this  - and I don't know what they do.... but just keep in mind that it is to make you feel better and won't be permanent...

Brooke I had RNY in Oct 05 and soon lost 74 pounds and couldnt keep anything down and was put in the hospital in Dec 05 and had a feeding tube put in it was put in one of the already incision wholes they had used and I had it a few months I had to feed the tube w/ a liquid (canned) 4 times a day and plus try to feed by mouth I also was given most liquid medicine to put through the tube so I didnt have to take by mouth because I couldnt keep them down either. I was checked and there never was any medical reason found other than a very sensative gage reflex causing all the problems after I was able to keep 6 small meals and fluids down for 2 weeks which I did @ several months the tube was removed. I was in and out  over night and it was more a pain in the butt than anything . I wish you the best and If I can help in anyway Id be glad to. And it is the best thing if your not keeping anything down because what happened to me was  I had dyhydrated from all the throwing up and all my labs were out there. So best to keep things going in and the tube went into my old stomach. Prayers going up for you sweetie.

thank you sooo much. My nurse said it went in my old stomache. I thought that was so weird, but makes sense. I know I need nutrition. Just think its so ironic that I NEED calories for one time in my life. I appreciate everyones responses. I will let you know what happens Monday.

Its truley not that bad its more of a nuisance more than anything and time cunsuming waiting for the fluid to drain in but if you have a good flow it takes about 6 minutes so not to bad it will be over before you know it hang in there.
