Frustrated...

I am very frustrated right now. I can have my protien drink and be full and happy.  I can trat my self to coffee every now and then, and be happy.  I can eat and feel full for hours.  But I take one sip of water and I get hungry.  Why does this happen?  What can I do to keep this from happening.  It is very frustrating.  I don't even think it is hungry, just my stomach wanting to be coated and it is exposed once water hits it?  Does that make sense?

How quickly are you drinking after eating?  This only happened to me when I drank within one hour of eating.  Also, try adding something like crystal light or SF koolaid to your h2o so that you can try and trick your mind to thinking it's not just plain water.

I am told to wait 30 minutes.  However, I am at the highest of fullness at that stage and I want it to last as long as I can. So I usually wait until an hour after I eat.  Maybe I will go back and try the CL again.  I still have some packets at home so I will give that a try tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks!

I am like that too - my stomach does just not like plain water so I use something to flavor it and I am fine - that is all you should need to do too - we just have to fool the old pouch lol!!

What has worked best for me in keeping hydrated and in keeping the hunger away is drinking decaffeinated iced tea.  I brew the tea bags in ho****er, add loads of ice, and keep in the refrigerator all of the time.  Every time I walk out the door, I have a large sipper bottle of it with me and drink from it all day long -- two bottles and I am set for the day.  I am not good with plain water or Crystal Light, so this has been my solution.  Hope that helps.  :)

Cindy,

I love tea!!  Before surgery and after diagnosis of diabetis I drank either water or unsweet ice tea.  I would treat myself to McD.  But I think it is caffinated.  What brand do you use. Do you sweeten it with artificial sweetner? Or do you use a brand that does not to be sweetend?

I use Lipton, I believe.  Giant carries the iced tea bags, decaf, of course.  I take three of them, add ho****er and let it steep.  I pu****er and ice in, keep it in the refrigerator and use it as needed.  It's not sweeted -- I add sweetner as I use the tea.

Thank you everyone!  Your inputs have really helped!  It is also good to know I am not the only one with the hungry feeling when I drink water.  I am doing the CL today and it has been great.  I was getting into snacking way to much before.  today, I have barley been hungry.  I had my Acheive one protien drink this morning.  That is usually my breakfast.  At about 12 I had 3 slices of thin deli ham and babybell light cheese.  I just had a feta cheese stuffed jalepno pepper.  And that is it!  I am getting in my fluid much easier and feel at ease.  I am so much happier with this. I thought I was one of those unlucky ones where the surgery didn't get rid of the hunger issue.  You all are my life saver!!
