Prayers will continue for Pat and others on the board as needed, for as long as they are needed. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer. I was petrified the first time I was scoped and the second it was like I was an old timer, It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I wish her all the best and then some!

Sending prayers her way. I hate the endoscopy. I can handle pain just not the choking feeling kind. Jeanine at my drs office said I too will have to get another one if nausea does not go away by tomorrow (they put me in outpatient infusion center yesterday to pump some fluids in). I had an endoscopy 2 weeks ago, they suck but if it gets to the root of the problem, it is well worth it.
PS Tink- What did Jeanine say when you called her today?

Brooke,
I had to go to the infusion center when I was about 4 and 1/2 weeks post op. I was developing a stricture but it was Memorial Day Weekend and they did not want to admit me then (and I didn't want to be admitted on that weekend, either!) unless absolutely necessary. I went and had two iv bags pumped into me and was off on my way with Zofran (the wonder drug!) and then was admitted on Tuesday of the following week. I should not have waited but I was stubborn and I did not know what was going on. I had a scope on Wednesday AM and was discharged two days later. They diagnosed and corrected the stricture and corrected it with the scope but I was severly dehydrated. I gained 12 lbs of fluid during that time. I was admitted again at 5 months post op with yet another stricture. Again it was a four day stay in the hospital and another scope. They aren't too bad to me..as long as they give enough fentenayl and versad to make me totally aware sof what's going on. I was more aware with what was happening the second time around and not nearly as dehydrated but Dr. Hutcher wanted to make sure I was good on the fluids and could hold stuff down. I did not like what they were bringing me to eat so I put myself back on full liquids and that hampered my discharge. But here I am over three years out and doing well. I hope all goes well for you and you do not have to be scoped.

Ok, I'm stupid...which Pat? Kat's Mom or another Pat???
***Ok, never mind...I read the previous post & now I know that it's Pat Bird. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon.
Just for the record for you & all the rest...if you are coughing up anything that resembles coffee grounds, get to an emergency room immediately. That certainly means you are bleeding from somewhere internally. Secondly, do not wait for two hours on a phone call from a doctor. Yes, I'm fussing, but I'm fussing as gently as I can. Our health is more important than waiting on what & when is convenient for the doctors. Speaking as an emergency medical tech, I NEVER understand why people wait when they know something is wrong. And Tammy can back me up on this, I'm sure. I wish I had a dime for everytime I found myself doing chest compression or rescue breathing for someone who waited, & waited, & wound up waiting too long. So whatever YOU think is a good reason to wait...& most times its a matter of denial...not wanting to admit that something's wrong...DON'T WAIT.
Ok, enough butt chewing. Pat, get well quickly! We worry!
