Promotion at work!!!!!

Ok, so I just got back from my lunch time run and find an e mail on my desktop.  One of the two groups that I service (my secondary account that I rarely deal with) has been dissatisified lately so they are doing some reorganizing.  I am now primary on the account because I "am the best of the best".  I am very excited but nervous, too.  I had all of the other benefits memorized and now I have to start over!  Oh well, I have faith and I know I can do it!  I am slightly surprised because I have just recently moved to this department and to be considered one of the best really makes me feel good.  I can't help but wonder if I would have gotten either promotion prior to WLS?  I know I could have done the work and I know I am worth it both then and now...but I always wonder if good things like this would have happened when I was close to 400 lbs.  I seriously doubt it!

That is wonderful Tammy!!  Congrats on this promotion.  And what a compliment.  I can relate to you on your opnion and wondered if that is why I didn't get the posistion on all those interveiws I went on.  I got the one I least expected to get. LOL And then my transfer, I knew I had it in the bag. My manger is so awesome and we really built a good report. But I agree as said as it is, weight does play a role in the career game.  You may get the raises and the promotions, but you may get a lot more.  And that is really sad...But you GO GIRL!!

Congrats on the promotion!

I have noticed the same thing. I don't know if it's the quality of the work I produce or the weight loss, but I've definitely been on an upward trend over the past couple of years. The funny thing is, I bring out my pre and post op photos once a year and post them in my cubicle on my anniversary, and my boss says every single time that she can't remember me being that way.

In fact, I posted a couple of months ago about my annual review. I was offered a raise, and I REJECTED it, and asked for more, and I GOT IT. I know for a fact that I wouldn't have done that pre op (almost didn't do it post op!) and I am not sure that had I asked for it pre op that I would have gotten it.

Anyway, congratulations!

The tough part of WLS is not the first year, it's those that follow.
