better yet, don't think you do dump on sugar so you think you can't dump on it.  Boy have I got a story for you.  I am one of those post ops that can get away with some sugar so I decided to pu**** with dangerous results.  My post should serve as a warning, don't let this happen to you.

Unfortunately this will and does happen to many folks. Its all about choices and will power. We all face our addiction to food at one time or another and there isn't a single person who's NOT done so post-op. If there is, he or she is truly a SAINT and we know that's not working out. It's incredibly important to remember that just because things are sugar free or no sugar added there are other dangers to look out for. Sugar alcohols, the kind of sugar things are flavored with and more. I'm glad you shared this with us. I have dealt with this a couple times although not the this extreme. Its a reminder of how our tool works and dumping exists with more than just sugar I can tell you that. Anything high in fat, sugar, greasy or fried will have almost if not worse outcomes.

Thanks!

You are not alone in your experience. I don't have children to contend with, but have had a similar experience....it is scary how we can justify things and then suffer the consequences so fully. Glad that it turned out for you the way it did.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I am glad both you and Lilith are ok.  As Kat has said...we have all pushed it at some point after WLS.

Wow that is scary. I am so glad you are ok. I just had surgery on the 30th of June and I watch my suger and fats from everything. I have friends tell me not to go crazy but I take it very serious. Your story is a real eye opener.

Thank you for sharing.

RNY on 02/22/06 with
I have only dumped once - by accident - when I ate something on an empty stomach and had eaten it the night before - so it was a leftover and I did not expect to dump - yet I did - and it was the worst feeling in the world! -  so I have never dumped since and I am scared stiff of it - so I am not an angel but I am mega careful what I eat - and nothing with double digit sugars in it. THERE IS NO WAY I WILL GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN IF I CAN HELP IT...

So it is good that it happened to you because you will not stray outside your limits again. That was the reason I had RNY - to scare myself from straying....  and thank goodness for that fear!

Sorry you had a rough time - but your surgery is doing what it is supposed to do - so at least you know it is still working lol!!
