There should be a law...
against young, somewhat attractive, nice, charming male physicians working in areas where I have to tell them how much I poop and what texture it resembles!!!
I had to make myself laugh. It's been one of those days.
The Gastroenterologist I saw made me feel much more at ease with my situation. He was kind and he listened to my manic concerns and even when I was all over the place, he seemed to stay with me. He was familiar with RNY Surgeries and had actually worked with my surgeon. Those Ex-Navy guys stick together.
I told him all my symptoms, fears, self-diagnosis (didn't you know I got my medical degree in a cracker jack box?) and explained everything that I've been going through since January. He thinks that this should be treatable without surgery. He said that sometimes scar tissue does happen and they can go in and get rid of it, but it will only return. He said sometimes the body just changes and we have to adjust our diets to work around it. We're going to try another over-the-counter product for two weeks and if that doesn't work...it will be colonoscopy time.
He did agree that it would be rediculous that I would have to continue doing anemas just to go to the bathroom, he said we would fix it. He said that he would be VERY concerned if I were vomiting, that would indicate a complete bowel obstruction. He also had labs done to make sure I don't have a thyroid issue going on. So for the next two weeks my life will consist of plenty of Miralax, Milk of Magnesia, Ex-Lax Chewables, Benefiber, Gas-Ex, and Fiber One Bars. Oh my.
I feel much more at ease.
It's a good thing he wasn't incredibly hot or I would've had to turn around and walk right outta there!

Oh Amber...I am so glad you found someone that seems to care and be concerned, too. Sorry he's a cutie...not sure I could talk to him if it were me! I'm kinda vain like that...even though I am happily married! You will do fine and he will be there to hopefuly guide you to a path with no surgery! Will continue to pray for you.
