The biotin I took starting months before surgery and continued for about 7 months didn't affect the head hair (I never lost any either) but I was shaving my legs and underarms 3 times a week!
Upon the advice of my hair stylist, I no longer completely rinse out my conditioner (plus I've almost got my hair "trained" to washing it only every other day - my exercise routine sometimes throws this off if I sweat too much). I also recently read that even conditioner whose directions say "rinse" after using, do not have to be rinsed at all (I guess it would depend on just how rich the conditioner is and how dry your hair is - experiment?).
One friend (another curly head) recently turned me onto Matrix sleek.look Sealing serum (step 4 of a 4-step set of products). She says she can get her hair wet after using this and it doesn't frizz or curl. It isn't that effective for me (I was at an outdoor concert Friday evening - little humidity but enough to make my hair look like it had never been styled). Right after styling though it does tame the root frizzies that blow drying and flat ironing just can't reach and it makes the rest of my hair a bit sleeker and less dry looking.
Another friend who also colors her hair and perms it has dry hair. She turned me onto the Pantene shampoo and conditioner formulated for your hair color. Her hair looks 100% better!
Good luck and let me know if you find the magic cure...I'm always trying to do something with my mop!
Biotin is a supplement that you can use to help with getting your hair on a healthier path. I personally use Pantene and Aussie. I usually forgo washing my hair once a week (usually when I cut grass or wanna bum) and this does help. Hopefully you'll get more suggestions and find some things that will work for you.
Hugs...........

Thankful for the easy, grateful for the hard & hopeful for tomorrow.
I have biracial children. My daughters hair are very similar to a white person curly hair. One daughter does have caorser hair while the other has finer hair. One thing with them, I only was their hair once a week. Washing it more dries their hair out very quickly. I use one brand of product for all of us, but they use different lines then me. Also, during the school year I flat iron their hair once a week. During the summer they swim every day, so I just leave their hair in braids. But this what i use for them.
Avdea
Shampoo and Conditioner: Smooth Infusions line for when I flat iron. It is very good and helps with the frizzies. You only need a small amount, it goes along way. Once a month I will use the Damage Remedy conditoner for several minutes. They have a new line for moisture I am dying to try on them.
Once they are done with their shower I use the Brilliant Damage control. It is like a spray in conditioner but it also protects the hair.
After I flat iron, I use the Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss. It is a great oil! Smells great and makes their hair so shiny. I even use a touch on my ends when I flat iron my hair.
Our hair has never been so healthy. With all the stuff I do to my girls hair, espeically with them being in dance, their har is healthy and the ends take for every to get frayed. I am an Aveda freak. I ONLY go to an aveda salon to get my hair colored. The first time I went my I had colored my hair had just got my hair colored about a month eailer. It had faded so bad. I get my hair colored close to my hairs natural color only darker. When I got it done that time, my hair stayed that color for MONTHS with little fading. People are shocked when I tell them I color my hair.
The stuff is very expensive. But you only need a little bit of the product. It take months for me to go through stuff for my girls. I only use it once a week. But the stuff last forever.
