Update on me.
Hi everyone, I just want to thank you all for your support!!! You guys are the best that's for sure. Well I told you I would let you know what happened when I went for surgery so here its. My best friend went with me. Well she is no longer my best friend. She was not supportive at all and kept telling me that I should stay in the hospital another night. Well since I was doing so well there was no reason and the cost alone would have been well over 1k. I did not lie to her when I told her about my surgery and what it entailed. I think she just didn't listen. She is the type that is just waiting for her turn to speak and doesn't hear a word you say. She was upset that they cut me...uhh last time I heard that's what they do with surgery. I was doing so good getting up the night of and walking and getting all my water in. The day that they discharged me I had already freshened up and taken a long stroll. She called my nurse and pretty much demanded that they keep me another night. She upset me and made me cry, thank God for my wonderful Nurse. She was the best and I will always be grateful to her. So we got a case worker involved and she came and talked to "friend" and she and the nurse both told her if they didn't think I could do for myself they wouldn't release me. She listened to nothing insisting she knew how major this surgery was and well you get the picture. Once we got in the hospital she just kept saying that I had no idea what I got myself into because I would be in major pain and have complications and well just anything negative that you shouldn't say to someone that just had sugery. I called hubby and he and my son came and got my. Sigh I was so relieved and happy to see them. She couldn't wait to get out of there. She and I fought several times and I even at one point told her to leave because having her there trying to make me feel bad was way worse then the surgery itself. I guess you really learn who your friends are. At one point she claimed herself to be the kindest person ever...ha what a laugh!! Well she has taken a new job and when I get back she will be gone.
Now back to the good stuff. I am doing better and better each day. I am amazed at how well I am doing too. I have before and after pics that I will hopefully be adding to my profile. It will be friends only so if you want a looks see when I get them up just send me a message to add you.
I am so far very very pleased. I am definitely in swell hell but I knew I would be, It has gone down some though, and I can't wait to see the results without the swelling. I go back to see Dr. K tomorrow afternoon and am hoping to get at least one or two drains removed. Honestly the drains are the worst part for me right now they leak and are just bulky.

Anna,
I am so sorry you had to go through that with your "friend". I pray that when my time comes I will have the kind of supporters I need. At this point, it will be Steve and some folks from the boards and depending on the time of year, my daughter may be there, too.
It is great that you are doing do well. I want an honest answer after the drains are removed...does it hurt when they come out? I did not have them with my RNY and that is what is scaring me the most about plastics. I was most scared of the central iv with my RNY!
Anyway, it is good to see you posting again. Glad you are up and around!

Tammy, thank you!! I did go for a post op today and he removed one drain and the drain went under my skin near the pubic area in my leg and all the way around to my bootay as my son calls it. No it did not hurt at all. In fact the tape I had on to catch any leaks stung a little. I could feel it but it was not any where near as bad as hubby thought. He thought it would hurt and it didn't at all.
Hope this helps!!

Anna, I am so sorry that your friend was not as supportive as she should have been!! But you live and learn and are stronger for it! I would love to see your pics if you will let me - I hope I am on your friends list already...
I told you the drains are the worst part of it and you may get one or two removed but they are so necessary. I saw Dr K on Tuesday and he removed the second drain so I was mega happy- and the removal of the drains does not hurt....... they are special drains that do not stick to your skin so are painless..... the swelling does take a while to go down but the results are just fantastic.
Can't wait to see the pics!

Jackie, you are so right about living and learning. Yes you are on my friends list and I plan on posting some pics this weekend. I'll post when I get them up.
The dreaded drains...sigh I hate them but I understand the importance of them too. I had a post op today with Dr. K and he removed one drain. There was one move that he could have removed but it had only been showing low output for one day so he left it in and hopefully next Thursday when I go back I can get more if not all of them removed. That would be so awesome!!

Anna - It is so good to hear from you! After the "minor" surgery I had, I really admire those of you who have had the major stuff done - and how quickly you're back to normal and rearing to go!! I'm still uncomfortable and always imagining the worst. Your attitude is super! You are very fortunate that when Plan A support system failed you had your loving family to come to the rescue. I'm looking forward to hearing more as you continue to recover.
Best best best wishes!
