I have been gone from here a few weeks for my own reasons busy and alot going on, but for the main reason I have been coming off some medicines I was on. Neurontin and Tramadol, well for the past 4 days Ive been in my own H*** and I cant seem to get any d*** answers @ UVA pain clinic where is I was going for my back and leg condition, I ask to be removed from the Neurontin due to some weight gain and try to get it off and under control and then they suggested the Tramadol/Flexril trial and error I was to pick and go with it not telling me the side effects I would have with the Tramadol. I have had restlessness, hot/cold sweats, headaches, cant sleep, cant eat, not drinking, diarrhea, shakes ready to pull my hair out flu like symptoms they are all there. Im here for any suggestions I have called to ask them ABOUT the pain Ive been suffereing, I dont want back on this Tramadol I have way to much going on w/ school and the wedding I have a "ton" of homework for this week and I have not even opened a book. Im wondering if you all have any suggestions since the darn Dr has not returned my call?

Oh sweetie!  I am so sorry.  I do not have any suggesstions but I will be praying for you and I am here if you need me.  Have you tried any pain patches?  My dad is on them instead of the pills also because of weight gain.  They work wonders for him!  Call me if you need anything!

Hey you, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through such a rough time, I can relate. I don't know too much about chronic pain and the meds they use, but I do know that I was on Neurontin for Bipolar reasons (they use so many meds for multiple reasons these days) about 3/4 years ago and they took me off of it because it was killing people or something. You know those ads you see on TV when people sue? It was listed there once. I'm sure your doctor would've cleared it though, before giving it to you. I don't know about the interractions but I go to a website that I find very helpful and you might find something in there. its http://www.crazymeds.us/contents.htm and I found http://psychcentral.com/meds/ and that one looks like it has some info on it too. Of course nothing is set in stone on these websites, but they may give some insight.

Hope you feel better!

Oh, dear Melinda! I wish I had some advice for you! Know that you are in my thoughts. Can you work with your professors at school to ease some of that burden? Call upon some girlfriends to help with any wedding items? That way, perhaps you can rest or pamper yourself to take your mind off of the pain while you wait (yet persistently call) for the dcotor?

Sounds like you are going through withdrawal from the Tramadol. Years ago I was on Oxycontin for chronic pain, the smallest dose available. I was pregnant and although my OB said I could stay on the med, I took myself off.
I had to have a visiting nurse come in every other day and was hooked up to IV fluids and such.

ETA...I found this on Drugs.com...it certainly fits your symptoms.

Do not stop using tramadol suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication.

Melinda ,
Tramadol is the worse. I was on it for my spinal pain. You need to stay on your doctors azz . Call and call some more . I had to do the same thing . Docs trying all kind of pain meds and combonations . I finally had to tell them to stop the madness . I am now on percocets with phenegren as needed . I asked for it . As it is the only thing that works for me .

The Flexeral never worked for me . Just try to find what works for you , and keep at it with your doctors. Tell them your concerns about the weight gain . Tell them you did not work as hard as you have to get this weight to come back .
Just be your own best advocate and except nothing less than the best for yourself .
I will be praying for you . I hope things start to come together for you soon . I know how busy you must be planning the wedding . I remember oh to well how the planning of mine went . I was so blessed to have you all there with me on my special day . I do not know how I would have made it with out you .
Take care ..
Natalie

Melinda, if they dont call back today please call the pcp or get to see a dr before this gets worse. It can be dangerous and they have things they can give you to help with withdrawals at least. That pain clinic is a joke, wish they would send you to another one up there. So sorry you are sick. I dread the withdrawals i may have if I lose my insurance due to inablity to afford it anymore out of pocket. I get some pain relief from what Im on but definately not gone. Wish I did too and could function more. I know how depressing it is. Slow down and breathe please before it gets worse. Someone has got to help you. I fear for you with the withdrawals.
Prayers coming your way.

Oh Melinda I have been wondering where you were & I hate that this is the reason you have been absent.  Keep pushing the dr., the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  You are in my thoughts & prayers.
