Surgery Consult

Hey ya'll
Sorry it took me so long to get back to the forum after my consult at UVa on Thursday.  I spent the night with my folks in Scottsville and they have no internet or even a computer.   I had the consult and someone should have told me the lab work was a non-fasting study.  I was a grump most of the day.  But it's over and it looks like I'll have my surgery sometime in November or early December.  I have to fufill my requirements of my insurance and do a doctor supervized diet for 3 months.  The seminar was very informative and I learned a lot.  Once I spoke to Dr. Schirmer, he felt I was an excellent canidate for either WLS surgery, but we decided to do Lap-Band based on my determination to see it through and the less invasive nature of the surgery.  I was very glad to finally meet with him and his staff.  They were very personal and pleasant to deal with.  Only one complaint...the WAIT!!!! That is one busy office.  From the time the seminar ended and I finished my bloodwork, I waited three and a half hours until I saw the doctor.  I was a little cranky and I know it was from not eating and lack of sleep.  (I was up at 3:00 AM that morning, I guess I was nervous.)  I will have a psyc. evaluation and the good thing is that I can use my old doctor from years ago.  On the whole, it was a good experience.  I'll have a definate date in three months.  Yeah!!!

Thanks Ya'll!  I'm getting myself motivated.  Since last Thursday I've lost 14 lbs.  Yummy tuna!   I made my appointment to see the psycologist for my evaluation.  I go tomorrow!  Plus I called a buddy of mine with a large carriage like me to go walking at the park starting Weds.  I'm ready to roll.  Thank you again for the support.
