Dr. Halmi/Tran

Hi,

New to the boards. I have found it a wealth of information. I have been reading about wls for over a year and finally decided to contact Dr. Halmi/Tran for an appointment.  

I have my first 'consultation' scheduled in about 10 days. I got paperwork today that said there was a $450 non-refundable program fee and a $275 nutrition fee...anyone know if these are due at the first 'consultation' visit?

Hi, I don't know about this set of doctors but my doctor had a $350 fee and then there was a $250 fee for Fair Oaks Hospital.  The one for the surgeon's office had to be paid by surgery and the other had to be paid by the date of your 1st class.  Hope that helps!!

Hi Kamille!  Welcome to the board!  I am a patient of this group.  I had RNY back on 6/17/08.  The fees you speak about will not be required until you are approved and have a date in place and you go in for your "first" pre op appoinment.  At this appoinment you are given your pre op papers for testing and establishing your nutriton class appointment. I know the fees are due by a certain time after that point. I paid everything at that appoinment.  If you have any questions, please let me know!!

I knew there would be out of pocket fees involved I was just not expecting to pay them before I was approved for the surgery.

Kamille - you already got your questions answered, but wanted to say WELCOME!!  I had my surgery with drs. halmi/tran and loved them!  Hope we can help you out with any questions you may have.  There is probably a "support group" meeting for the first Thursday in August, check out the dates on their website www.vwlsc.com.  Lys

Good am Kamille and WELCOME to the VA Board!!! I'm not familiar with Dr. Halmi/Tran with the exception of seeing them at a recent OH conference. However, other folks really dig them and I'm sure they'll be passing along their experiences.

Hi Kamille - I do not know about the expenses issue but I had surgery 2 and a 1/2 years ago witrh Dr Tran and love him and the whole practise!! They are the best!
