Tammy-
Someone told me to wear mine on my left wrist since it's a bracelet...but that medics go for the left wrist to check for a pulse? Is this accurate?

OH..and for everyone else...I got mine at www.laurenshope.com also. Love it...just ordered another one (to fix name! ugh!).

I used the suggested text for Gastric Bypass from their site.

Christina,

Yes, left wrist is the proper place to wear it.

You might want to rethink the No Intubation part, because as Tammy said, when done correctly it will most certainly save your life.  Just no blind intubation.  Believe me, if you ain't breathing I'm gonna tube ya, just do it with the scope.  The alternative is not a good one.   Besies, if we get medical directive from the ER doc to intubate, we have to.  Without oxygen at best, you could come away with brain injury due to lack of oxygen, at worst you could die.

Hugs!
Ann

I have a Medic Alert one (www.medicalert.com) that I had before surgery due to my diabetes and high blood pressure  and just had the engraving changed after my RNY - mine reads:

Roux-on-Y
Gastric Bypass
Do not blindy place
N'G Tube. No NSAIDS
Hypertension

and my medic alert number with fuller details so they can call it in...

I think we all should wear one too....

Thanks everyone for your input. I used to think the same thing about being embarassed about Gastric Bypass. I finally gave it up. I needed the help and knew that the lap band would not do it for me. I'm too old (44) to care what others think of me. They will either think I have no self control and am too lazy to go to the gym or they will think ill of me for having gastric bypass. They might even think hey, she really wants to be around for her family and that was a hugh sacrifice (did I spell that right?) she made for her family. At this point I want to be healthy long enough to nag my husband to death! He says the trip for him is getting shorter every day! HAHA There comes a time in your life when you just have to do for you. I have been doing for every one in my family but me and I had lost myself. I'm back no thanks to this surgery and all the support from others that have been exactly where I have been and am right now!
