Rave PFChang's
Ok so I may get flamed for this but I am willing to take a chance.

I have been seeing this new guy for the last couple weeks and as he puts it, he "loves to eat". He is no where near being obese but is the most non judgemental and most understanding man regarding my obesity that I have met. So... back to the story. We went out to dinner last night at PFChang's. I have never been there and some would say I should be shot for it but... I was very nervous because of the rices and sauces. Well Dan saw that the menu stated to ask the server if you were concerned about dietary restrictions. He did and in turn the waiter brought over the general manager. We talked for a bit, discussed that I could not have things high in fat or with sugar. He asked what I would like if I could have anything I wanted. The first thing out of my mouth was Sweet & Sour Chicken without the sugar. He said he would take care of it.......

Twenty minutes later, here comes the general manager again. He brought over a plate of Sweet & Sour Chicken and informed me that his chef had gone over the recipe for the sauce with him and they reworked it so that it was made with Splenda and not sugar. The General Manager was the one that completely cooked my meal so that there wouldn't be any confusion as to what could be included in my meal. He also steamed the vegetables to that they were less greasy and made sure that there was no rice included. I took 1 bite of it and was POSITIVE that it was made with sugar. I sat there for 10 minutes or so and waited. Took another bite, nothing. It was the ABSOLUTE BEST food I have eaten since surgery. Of course I only took 2 or 3 bites of the chicken and 1 or 2 bites of the vegetables, and the manager thought that it was because it wasn't good but I brought every bite home.

I have NEVER experienced such preferrential treatment in a restaurant before. He treated me with such respect and went beyond his duties to make sure that 1 of his customers were satisified and that they enjoyed their meal and wouldn't suffer from anything they ate. If any locals want the managers name, so that if you happen to visit this restaurant, you can speak to him about making something for you, please don't hesitate to ask. I would definitely recommens this establishment for an occasional meal.

Ok the flaming can begin for those that will say this was a bad food choice.

Sounds like you did well Theresa. Sometimes we do need to bend the rules some & satisfy some of our cravings. Because of the great service you got from the manager you were able to make your choice what you wanted but at the same time make it as healthy as possible. I don't think you did bad at all. And with such a caring dinner partner as a bonus... So how come this is the first I am hearing about him, what is he like, how did you meet? Details, I want details!!!!
Actually I am teasing. I would love to know about your "date" in order to share your good times but will be happy to wait until you are ready to share. :)

You know you have an awesome guy there!! Is that why you have been quiet l.ololol!
You did good for them to prepare you such a nice meal and they certainly excel at customer service where you went! I go to there occasionally and when I do I tend to have the lettuce wraps but they are an appetiser that does me 2 or three meals - I have no rice etc -
So enjoy your meal and have no guilt - you made a consciencious choice on what to eat and I think you did good......

I'm not sure where in VA you are--can you tell us which PF Chang's it was? I'm in northern VA, and there are 2 up here, and I know there is one near my sister in Va Beach...
Sounds like you had a great evening and you were treated with the respect you deserve. I love great customer service, it seems so lacking in our society today. To hear/read of a positive experience is soooo encouraging!
I am looking forward to going there myself.
Oh yea, Congrats on the sweetie! Ahh new love is always the sweetest...

No flaming here!! I'm impressed at not only the FABULOUS service you received, but also at you speaking up for what you needed to have (no sugar added) and getting it!! WTG!!! Maybe if more of us did that, restaurants would make changes in their menus so that "we" can eat out with less fear of dumping.
Glad you had such a great time! Your date sounds wonderful too.
