Jill,

I am in serious need of your (or anyone that knows) help!  don't ask how, because I really have no clue, but I have broken a bone in my foot.  I can still walk OK even though it hurts a lot and am not in a cast, but I am yearning to run.  I missed it this morning and it has thrown my day all off.  I woke up extra early, couldn't go back to sleep and am in a small funk.  I did do the gazzelle for an hour this morning and I think that helped some.  What else can I do?  I really love the "alone/me" time when I run.  Any and all suggesstions are appreciated!

Oh Tammy! I am so sorry that you hurt your foot. I am sure it is painful. While I have NO advice on the entire exercising while injuried thing, I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about you and wishing you a speedy recovery!

Thanks, Theresa.  It is not that bad for the most part...just when I try and run!  I am taking tylenol rapid release gels and they seem to be helping.  It is in a place where no cast is needed...just time.  I am grateful it is not being in too much pain and still able to function!  See you and Cam on Sunday???

Have you seen a doctor for it???

My personal opinion would be to stay off of it - nothing weight bearing.  Maybe a recumbent bike or swimming, but I would definately say no to the ellipticle, gazelle, running, etc.  You need to give it some time to heal.

Wish I had something better to offer..............

Swimming is a definately can do.  It is just so hard to stay off if it!  I have become so used to being active and doing something almost all of the time that it is very hard for me to sit down.  I do not like "taking it easy" unless I am the one that decides it...not my injuries!  Thanks for the advice.

Hey Tam, I have no advice for you but my condolences as I know that hurts---been there , done that. My foot just had to heal by itself over time. Just don't stub it or you will definiely be hurting.. Take care, Jim

Thanks, Jim.  I will try, but it is very hard for me!  I hope it gets better soon.

Well, depending on where the break is I think you might be looking at 4 to 6 weeks recoop. Good luck Tam....Jim

Thanks, Jim.  It is virtually impossible for me to sit still for 4-6 weeks...I will just have to find some other sortof exercise to do!

Tammy, Tammy, Tammy!  (I seem to be saying that a lot lately...lol)  What AM I gonna do with you??  You have an injury.  You KNOW you need to give it a rest so it can heal.  So why, oh why are you being stubborn & willing to risk further injury?  Come on girl,  you're a medic too...what would you tell your patients????  I think instead of giving hula lessons, I need to start teaching ya'll how to use a knifty knitter so you can stay down but still feel like you're doing something.  It ain't exercise, but at least you can have fun making things for family & friends for Christmas while you heal.  I gotta love ya babe!!!

Hugs!
Ann
