Please don't laugh at me Jill!!!

This is a question for everyone, but I am sure Jill will help.  I posted this question on the Main board and got no reponses.  So my goal is to have as little plastics as possible.  I am hoping to avoid it on my arms and my inner outer thighs.  I work a seditary job, behind the desk.  I have my own office so I have some privacy.  I am bringing some dumbells to work to use while I am sitting at the desk to work my arms.  I was planning on squeezing my backend muscles to work those.  You know like keigels.  The one area I can not figure out how to work sitting down is my inner thigh muscles.  The only thing I can think of is using a thighmaster!!  But I don't know if it is a waste of money and time and if there is something else I can do instead.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

I also live in Stafford. www.sparkpeople.com has a host of excercises. They even have a video with exercises that you can do at work.

Thanks for asking this question. I had posted a similar one a few weeks ago. I am also trying to avoid the knife too. I hap lap-band surgery in March 2007 and am getting more and more saggy in the arms and inner thighs. I asked my regular doctor and she felt I would probably need PS, but that I could try to do as you mentioned with barbell hand weights as well as an inner thigh machine as well as squeezes on a large Swiss ball with my knees. I am also thinking about using a Pilates ring.

Hope this helps.

Hi again Melissa N,

Hope to see you at next month's OH meeting. I missed this past one since it was my birthday and went out for band friendly dinner with my hubby!

I'd NEVER laugh.  In fact...I own the thighmaster - haha.

Does it work?  Well...like anything else...if you go from nothing to something, it will work.  But, only for a short time.

Unfortunately, you cannot spot reduce, but you can build muscle in those areas.  Things like standing leg lifts, squats, and lunges  would be cheaper and just as effective.  Definately check out sparkpeople.com as they have some great video instruction.

Now...before you head down this path, know that this may not keep you from having plastic surgery.  You may have a lot of hanging skin that no amount of exercise can correct.  So, be prepared that there may be the possibility.  HOWEVER...your physical activity will help with your recovery if you need plastic surgey.  I was very quick to recover from a lower body lift and I think it is becuase of my increased protein and physical activity.

But...no laughs here.
