Udate: Middle of the road...TMI catiution on BM

So, pain has subsided.  It is not as bad.  Thank goodness.  Nasuea is still there like ***** though.  I was dry heaving yesterday after some water, but nothing came up.  I am still taking my zofran too.  I called the office today and they put me on the phone with the nutritionist.  I told her my update.  She siad as long as I am not vomiting then I should be fine. Now add another symptom.  Before I had surgery I was extremly regular.  I was the type of person, when I had to go, I had to go I better know where the bathroom is.  I would have cramps and stuff.  Now I am constipated.  I had a BM on Wednesday and it was horrible.  I was in the bathroom for 30 minutes.  I had another one today.  It was even worse.  It took an hour. Straining.  I finally had to do manual maniplation to finish.  By the time I was done, I was sweating, shaking, and very weak.  I am still very weak and dizzy and this was 4 hours ago.  BTW, blood sugar is great!! This coupled with the no appeitite, the pain/ nausea and vomiting I am starting to think possibly a hernia.  But then I think I am being a paranoid freak and it is all in my head an I need to stop.  Part of me wants to call the surgeon after hours so I can speak to him since the office just wanted to hand me off to the nutritionist.  But then am I just being an overreacting patient?

Melissa:  Sounds like you are dealing with a lot.  If you have any concerns, you should call Dr. Halmi's office, even after hours.  It could be that with the new "symptoms" they can figure out what is happening, if anything.  It can't hurt to make the call....  Best of luck to ya!

I called when I was having problems and spoke with Dr. Halmi, he convinced me i needed to come in for a x-ray (possible blood clot), but the good news is, it was just double pneumonia.  But if you feel that something is "off", please call, that's what they are there for.  Feel better sweetie, lys

Hi Melissa, Just try a mild stool softener. I use Metamucil, but that is not everyone's favorite. I just mix with water and when it starts getting "thick" I throw it out.  Penny

Ever since surgery I have suffered from contipation - big time!! After my plastic surgery I use stool softners and my life has been much easier ever since.. .........now I do still block the bathroom every time - my son says I go for a poo and a plunge  - but at least I have no discomfort now lolol!  If you sre still feeling bad do not hesitate to call Dr Halmi's office - they are there to ensure you are fine - call them  - do not continue to suffer....... :-) Jackie

The constipation could be part of the issue.  I noticed right away in the beginning that morning foods & drinks were hard for me if I didn't go first thing.  Hoping that the things you are going to try will help out.  Keep an eye on it & if you aren't feeling better call the dr. back & demand to talk with him.  Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hey Melissa,

Hope you're feeling better! Do call if your gut instincts are pinging. Constipation is no fun and what you're trying so far might work well. Hang in there!

Hugs....
