Prayers needed please...
Ok, so here's the story. A couple months ago Mike went to the VA Hospital for re-evaluation of his VA dissability benefits. While there he underwent a routine exam. The VA doc detected an aortic murmur & suggested he get it checked out further. Two weeks ago he went through a stress test with echocardiogram along with an ekg. Today we got the results. They're not very good. Yes, he does have some leakage around his aorta, but that's the least of his problems. The big concern is that all tests indicate coronary blockage. Because Mike shows no symptoms such as shortness of breath, erratic rythm or chest pains, the doc is worried that when he does exhibit signs or symptoms that it will be in the form of a massive coronary. So next week Thursday he will undergo a cardiac catheterization. Several scenarios will play out at that time. 1. It could be that the blockage is not so bad in which case he would spend 3 hours in recovery & then be allowed to come home same day with specific orders, medications, & keep a watchful eye as an outpatient. 2. They find the block & perform angioplasty (the ever-famous balloon procedure) followed by placement of a stint to keep the artery open. 3. If it's REAL bad then they would perform bypass...taking a vein graft from his leg, cutting open his chest, & putting the graft in place of the damaged artery. We just won't know what to expect until they get in there & actually SEE what's going on. Needless to say I'm a basket case inside but keeping a brave face on the outside for him. Thank God for Xanax!! I was so not prepared for this. I'M the sickie in this family, not him. He's not to exhert himself at all between now & then so no riding, no yard work, no lifting, etc. I'm worried. I just don't want anything to happen to him. Anyway, I know ya'll will sling them prayers like crazy people so bring 'em on...we could certainly use them right now. I love you all.
Ann you are in my thoughts & prayers and that includes your family. I am sorry the news isn't better but I do know that we are blessed with great doctors and wonderful medical advancements to alleviate so many health issues. I hope that Mike listens and follows the docs orders. I'm sure with his family around he will.
Hugs.........

Ann, I am so sorry. You and Mike are in my thoughts and prayers. At least it was found out through test and not through a heart attack. And thank goodness they are addressing the situation to make a fix. It still doesn't take away the hurt, pain and fear. And those are very normal. Be open with Mike though, because it is not good for you as well, to hold it in. Many hugs. Call me if you need anything.
Ann,
I will be lifting you and your husband up in prayer! I know that this is a difficult time; however, please find comfort in knowing that God is a good God and he has his loving arms wrapped around you all. He will never give us more than we can bare. Just keep the faith and know that your WL family is praying with you!! If you need anything, just let me know. God Bless!!!

Ann, my prayers are with you and Mike. I know how hard this is because I went through the same thing a couple years ago. They found a 90% blockage of one of my coronary arteries and put a stint in. Things have gone great since though I will be on Plavix for the rest of my life. I feel sure that everything will work out fine for Mike too. It seems that as long as they catch it before the coronary MI happens then they can fix him good as new. And no I don't mean that kind of "fix". See I know how your mind works. Just like mine. Happy trails to you and Mike.
Michael
