Lab work is back!!
Now mind you, this is blood work done by my endocrinologist, so not every test that my WLS surgeon may do was done, but she did order more than her normal battery of tests just so I could get an idea of how my blood work is looking. Things are looking up, so up!!!
In April, for my pre op testing, 1 week before my surgery, my A1-C was 10.8. Today it is 7.3. My blood sugar, when tested that day, was 119 (non fasting). I can not believe how low it is getting. My good cholesterol is still a bit low but she said with the more increase in exercise, the more it will rise, so we will definitely start increasing the exercise. My LDL, (bad cholesterol) was nearly 200 at my pre op, now it is in the 90's. My calcuim, protein, potassium and white blood count are all in the NORMAL range. However, my vitamin D is 31, the high end of normal is 80, and she wants me to be around 40. She suggested talking to my surgeons office about maybe increasing the vitamin A & D pill for a few weeks to help raise this up.
Although I am only 10 weeks out, I am not sure when my surgeon's office will be doing his first set of post op lab work on me. So the PA at the endocrinologist's office is mailing me the results from my last lab work with her, from back in March, and the results from this week's lab results so that they can compare them.
I am honestly stoked about how well they have turned out. I guess this really does mean that I am trying my best and maybe not doing such a bad job. Thanks for letting me toot my own horn!!!
