New Here

I'm new here. I've been on the waiting list at PNH since February and last week I got the call for my initial consult appointment. I met the Dr on Monday. the Dr. was great and didn't talk down to me...which I hate. He's new to PNH, but I'm VERY comfortable with him doing my surgery. He has created his own pre-op diet just for his patients as well as post op diet. The preop diet helps to shrink the fat on the liver making the surgery easier for him to do and keeping the chances of being converted to an open RNY low. He seems to really care about my success.  I have a checklist of consults and tests to complete before I get my surgery date. I've already done the EKG, chest x-ray, and Lab work. Now I need an appointment with nutrition and Psyc. and then I can call for my preop. Also on my checklist is to lose 15lbs before the preop....I CAN DO IT!!!

Welcome to the VA board and you will get the surgery real soon. It is important that you feel comfortable with the doctor and that makes for a easier time. Go ahead and get your appointments and then you will have your surgery within the next couple of months. The 15 lbs sounds like a lot but you can do it. Good luck and keep posting.
