Hello fellow Virginians Newbie here...
It's good to meet you Jazz! Welcome!!!!!
Good luck with the process - I'm not from the NOVA area, so I can't comment on the doctor, but I think that Julie is right - a surgeon who seems tough or overly thorough is a good thing! My surgery is about 10 hours away, but between this board and all of the things that my surgeon has done for me, I feel totally prepared.
Best of luck!

Hi Jazz, I don't know if you were at this past Saturday's seminar or not but I was. I like you have decided that this is for me and called and made my appointment...it's in August as well. I was hoping to get an appt. for July...but oh well...it will be here soon enough! I loved Dr. Moazzez, the seminar was great! If you were there Saturday, I sat next to Cathy, the lady that had the band done, she was super nice but I decided the band was not for me, Just a preference, I suppose. Listen, this is a great website with awesome supportive people! Glad you found us!!! Take care and soon we will both be on the losers bench...I know I can't wait!!!!

Hello there, Jazz! I love both names - Jazz and Jasmine!! Hope you are having a great day and I wish you all the best. I am new to VA, but had surgery 3 years ago - May of 2005. Been on OH for 3.5 years, finally updated my name to my real name... :)
I am in VB, and have not had the opportunity to meet anyone yet, but this group gave me a wonderful warm welcome, looks like you got the same welcome wagon!!
I started out with a BMI of 42, and made my goal at about 16 months... got under it for a while and went through some tough emotions and food of course was barrier.. i just stopped eating. You cant do that, and now i am a little over goal, but feeling healthier and my family tells me i look better.. although I sure loved being told to EAT... lol. Its always been so emotional for me and I struggle with this and know its a lifetime issue.
My best suggestion is KNOWLEDGE, and you get that here, and at the support group meetings. Also if you can get a 'sponsor' or 'angel' whatever you want to call him/her... its so great to have that connection. just a thought.
You have a lot to look forward to, and if you ever have any question, small or large post it, or ask someone privately.... I did and always had such great support and still do.
hugs and best to you!
Jill
