30/30 Rule problems...UPDATED...

So my Nut has us on the 30/30 rule.  My problem is I do not want to drink 30 minutes after.  I am still full.  This concerns me considering hydration is very improtant in the stage of the game. Part of me also doesn't want to drink if I am still full.  That means my stomach will sustain the food longer.  I do sip here and there.  I am just worried I am hurting myself. ETA:  Talked to my Nut.  She is very supportive for me to extend the after meal to 1 hr and said it would be more benificial.  Just to make sure I get my liquids in.  YEAH!!

Hi Melissa!

So fun to meet you this weekend, by the way.

How much fluid are you getting in? I would think that if you're getting in the required amount, when you start drinking it wouldn't matter........ did your nut tell you that it was important to start drinking right at the 30 minute mark?

Other people will know better than me, I'm sure!

It was great meeting you today as well!!  You are a lot of fun.  Good luck with your surgery Wednesday!   I usually get my fluids in.  Except today.  I have been real lazy and after shopping I slept for like 3 hours.  So I have been real bad on getting the liquids in. She just said to wait the 30 minutes after eating more for the food then the drinking.  So I am not sure.

Every doc is different, but our rule is not drink 60 minutes after a meal. I agree with Sarah, if you are getting your fluids in for the day, I think it is okay to wait. Just my opinion though. Also, this will probably change a little the further you get out.  Good luck.

I think i would be more comfortable with the 60 minutes after meals.  I am just so full 30 minutes and don't want to drink.  I will ask my nut and see what she says.

Hi Melissa. I am sorry we didn't get to talk on Saturday but it was great to finally see you in person. You are a beautiful lady and what a gorgeous daughter you have. Now about the rule.... My doctor wants me to stop 15-20 minutes before and wait 15-20 minutes after. Like they before me have said, every doctor is different. But to be honest. This drinking and eating is one of my BIGGEST challenges. I just try to get better every meal. But honestly, as long as you wait some time after meals and are getting your fluids in, I would think you would be fine. But remember.... I am not a doctor, and I don't play one on TV.. hahaha good luck!

Good am Melissa, Again, nice to meet you & your daughter! Both BEAUTIFUL gals for sure! We all seem to battle this and its hard work breaking the habit of eating and drinking together for so long then trying to time yourself when you SHOULD be. As always your docs message to you should ring true first and foremost but as for feedback purposes on what works for me I drin****il about 20 minutes before I eat. I eat then have nothing for another 20. Personally I cannot imagine waiting 30+ minutes but if you are full then just keep in mind what you need to get in. I used to have a rule that I'd drink at least 7-10 oz per hour. Once I reached 64 oz I was "coasting" after that. Now days I get in no less a day than 96-120 oz. I'm very active and always in need of water. You'll get there! Don't beat yourself up. Hugs........
