Find healthy ways to deal with emotions.

Do you deal with your feelings now the same as you did before weight loss surgery? Most WLS patients were emotional eaters before their surgery. Food probably was your comfort.

But, you can choose to react differently to strong emotions today, rather than being a victim of them. First, find the willingness to try new things in response to your feelings. Then, experiment. It may take awhile to find other ways to relieve your emotional stress. Some people process their feelings by writing in a journal, others take up yoga. There are myriad things you can try.

Action for the day: In your journal, make a written plan for times when you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with emotion.
