New here

Hi all!!  I'm new here.   I am 27 years old and a mom to 5 kids.    I have twin daughters that are 5 years old, twin boys that are 3 years old and a one year old little boy.    Before I had children I was overweight but at 180lbs, since having them I have gone up to 250lbs.  Three weeks ago when my last baby decided to wean off nursing I decided it was time to do something for myself so I started dieting and excersising.   I am now down to 237lbs.   I wanted to try losing the weight myself first before going thru any surgery  and wanted to go someplace with others like me.  Support is something huge that I need.  I start every morning by walking 2-3 miles alone, I do about 30-45 mins worth of strength training and aerobics with my wii fit, lol and another 2-3 miles in the evening walking with my family.  Obviously with all the small kids and my husband (in the military) working all day I can't get out so I have to be innovative in my working out.

Congrats on doing for you!  Being a busy mom it is always hard to think about ourselves.  I am 28 and mom to 3.  8 year old girl, 7 year old girl, and 5 year old son.  With working going to school and being a mom, I always forgot about me.   It sounds like you are doing great with the exercising!  What are you doing for your eating habits?   I will agree with the other posters, this is a GREAT board and great inspiration.

Hello and welcome to the VA Board!  It sounds like your new plan is already paying off - keep up the hard work!  :)  I can't believe you have two sets of twins!  Have the doctors ever said what the odds of that are?  What a blessing!

First of all, welcome to the VA board.  You will quickly learn that we are all united in the fight against obesity, that we each seek longevity through better health, & we're all nuts!!!  I am a former military wife (all total 30 years!!) too but thank goodness all my kids are grown!  I am a firm believer that anyone who has more than one kid in the house at any given moment should automatically be given Sainthood!!  Your exercise regimen sounds pretty good to me, but I am also curious as to your food intake.  If we can help with anything along your wl journey, don't hesitate to ask.  Welcome aboard!!  I'm gonna go out on a limb & guess that your name is Jen??

Hugs!
Ann

Welcome to the VA Board!  You'll find all sorts of great support here!  It sounds like you have your hands full....and it sounds like you have made the right decision to start taking care of yourself.  As a former military wife myself (hubby retired after 22 years), I know how easy it is to take care of everyone else in the craziness that is military life, and forget about you.  You are obviously doing great with the walking and the weight loss so far -- congrats!  Keep up the great work, and know that we are here to cheer you on!  Again, welcome!  :)

Welcome! It's good to hear from you! You're really working out - congrats on the loss so far! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your crazy life and how things are going. I'm nominating you for some kind of award right now keeping up with all of those kids! A girl I teach with just had twins and, obviously, I knew she was having two but when I saw those first pictures I went - woah. There are two. babies. there. Two. Babies. So hats off to you!

lol Thank you they are all a handful trust me but it does get easier as the days go by.   As for my eating I usually eat a 2 egg white omlet with green peppers and onions in the morning with either an orange or banana,  I have yogurt at lunch (which is new considering I'm one of those people that has never eaten lunch.  I have one of those 90 calorie rice cake packets for a snack, and a normal dinner just a small portion of it.  I'm truly a cook, I love it and am always making a big meal for everyone so I was one of those snackers.  YOu know the kind, make a snack for this kid and have a few pieces, make a lunch for another and have a few pieces, make dinner right now and taste it over and over, eat a big dinner. lol  I have cut all that snacking out completely.  I feel so much better and don't miss the food and love the walking.  I get excited to go walking it's my only quiet time so I eat it up.
