Kat!  Congrats on your journey.  My husband is 14 months sober.  I have been on the other side.  I almost left him after his DUI last Easter.  There is a long history there.  He has made a decision for sobritey.  I have stood by his side every step of the way and have driven him to his classes and court dates.  Sacrificed finacially as we pay for the DUI and the subsequent classes.  I am DAMN proud of him.  He has worked hard in his own journey.  And I will continue to be there for him through the ups and downs as long as he stays commited to himself.   The journey you are going through is no easy journey and you are phenomenal to perserve through it.  I admire you and my husband as I fight my addiction of cigerettes as I am 1 week 2 days smoke free.  I do understand the desire and smells and taste and through that I take it one minute at time.  BRAVO!!  My hat off to you through this journey.

Hey Melissa, Thank you SO much for sharing this with me & others. Its WHY I feel so open and encouraged to talk about it. What you and your husband have gone through is a tremendous situation and its hard some days but I realize more and more the ONLY things I find floating in a bottle, cup or can is TROUBLE. Trouble I don't need, I'm not looking for and certainly don't want to endure the consequences. I have fam & friends who have stood beside me from the get go and they are STILL there. That is how I know they are blessings in my life. There are still other folks who I couldn't have imagined I'd come to know and grow great connections with. That's just it! Staying committed to myself is the best thing. I'm PROUD of you for working to kick your addiction too! Look at that! 1 week 2 days is a HUGE deal! You should be patting yourself on the back. Don't look back, keep moving forward! If your husband can do it, if I can do it then so can you. There are many folks struggling with addiction and I know all the feelings whether its physical, emotional, spiritual and mental...all 4 areas are affected. But, there's hope, there's help and together we can fight addiction! Thanks SO much for your support and understanding. PLEASE say CONGRATS to your husband too. 14 months! That RAWKS! I take it day to day and each month I celebrate but really its everyday. Hugs to you!

Congratulations Kat! You have done a wonderful job of staying sober - I know it can't be easy but you are doing it and living it - and for that I am very proud of you! Sharing it with others is an awesome thing to do and my Support Group said it left a lasting impression. Kudos to you Kat! Jackie
