10 ENERGY BOOSTING POWER HOUSE FOODS !!
We need to follow our dr's protocols. Mine likes that my breakfast is a protein shake made with skim milk. It suits my routine which does not include morning exercise. The shake has adequate carbs with milk to fuel the brain and helps spread out protein intake evenly throughout the day. A LF yogurt 2 hrs later continues to provide carbs. Some of the suggestions may be better suited to people farther out and not still trying to lose weight.
He also recommends carbs within 30 minutes before exercise and protein within 30 minutes after finishing exercise.
I agree that one should stick with their docs protocol . However, we have to be the ones that take charge of what works for each individual . My post was to give you ideas for energy foods .
Tam's question was one suited for her needs for exercise .
What we all need to remember that what ever stage we are at in our journey, that we DO NOT absorb all of our protein from foods. We do not absorb all of our nutrients from food . As we go along , we do begin to absorb more but never 100 % . This information came straight from my doctor.
Even if you are still trying to loose weigt, you would not want to keep your carbs too low . Your brain needs carbs to function . I made the mistake of thinking this early out . I kept my carbs at 20 . I really did myself injustice . I truly needed more than that . I lost weight really fast . 100 pounds in 4 months. I went into Ketosis 4 times . Not good for the kidneys, nor the brain .
All of this is trail and error . We as your said , need to keep to your doctors program . But trying new ideas and learning from one another has been so beneficial for us here . I have taken ideas from Jackie and Jill both and presented them to my surgeon . And always have gotten the ok to try them.
None of this is set in stone. I am just trying to pass along things as I learn them .

Yep....my doctor is the same way....HA! We have the SAME doctor.
Totally agree with you - we must following our surgeon's instructions.
in my opinion, when discussing nutrition, we (those of us farther out) must be delicate, because each surgeon has their own protocol and have their own studies and information that they want us to follow for their program. When we deviate from their instructions, we could put their own studies in jeapardy of showing a potential failure. Plus, my psch eval had questions regarding my ability to follow his instructions (which I passed with flying colors), so if I deviate now, what would that say about his eval process?
Just my 2 cents.......
