Today's Fitness Tip

Into the Night.  For many of us, exercising during the day is challenging.  Children, work, errands and other obligations force us to look at exercising at night.  But, for many, the thought of exercising at night might leave them "Sleepless in Seattle" (ok....Virginia, but you get the point).  Therefore, we avoid it.  But, recent research with highly fit cyclists has shown that vigorous exercise ending 30 minutes before bedtime did not interfere with their sleep.  In fact, performing certain exercises, such as yoga, may provide relaxation benefits that allows you to sleep better.  Now, this study may apply more to someone who is more fit and will vary from person to person, but if you have trouble getting in exercise during the day, definately look at evening exercise as an option to de-stress from the day.

I heartily agree!  I exercise in the evening during the week and usually have 3-4 hours before I hit the sack. I sleep great when I have 2 hrs of exercise under my belt!

Most definately.  In fact, i just increased my exercise (can you believe that???).  Now, I get in 30 - 45 minutes of intense cardio at lunch time, and them 1 - 2 hours of cardio, strength training or yago when I get home.  Out of sheer exhaustion, i sleep great  - haha! Now....just to eat more to fuel this....UGH!

OK - now I have a new excuse for not exercising more---I can't eat any more!!!!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
