There are many products available that will help you get in your protein.  It's what can you tolerate that will be the hornet. Over at the Vitamin Shoppe, they carry many protein shakes (IDS, Any Whey, and Matrix come to mind) and drinks (Syntrax Nectar Tea, Carribean Cooler, Fuzzy Naval, Kiwi & Strawbeery to name a few and the bullets.  New Whey and Profect are the ones to look for.  Plus, if you keep your receipt and do not like it, they will let you return it. GNC also carries a few of these products.  Many people use the EAS from Walmart.  I have not tried it, so i cannot vouch for it. Bariatriceating.com carries samples that you can purchase.  Her shipping is a bit high, but it's another option. Now...this is my personal opinion, if you are looking at a shake, make it with 1/2 cup of milk (I prefer soy milk) and 1/4 cup water and ice to make like a milkshake.  Much better than water (again...my opinion).  If you get vanilla, you can add cocoa powder to make chocolate, or fruit (like strawberries). Also, adding the coffee syrups (sugar free of course) lets you add some variety there, too.  Chocolate carmel w/ a dollop of sugar free whipped cream...YUM-O! Some like the Achieve One drinks.  They are like a frappachino in a bottle thingy.  My doc has recommended that I stay away from caffine and they do contain caffine in them.  Your choice, but many can vouch for them.  Bariatriceating.com carries those as well.

Good luck!

OMG!  It IS yummy!  Here's what I do..... 1/2 cup of plain light Soy milk 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup (or so) crushed ice 1 scoop Matrix chocolate protein powder (any chocolate that you like should work) 2 tbsp (or so) of DiVini's Sugar Free Carmel coffee syrup. Put all in a blender cup and belnd.  Add more ice if you want it thicker, less ice if you want it thinner.   Pour into a soda fountain glass (or other fancy glass) and add a dollop of sugar free whipped cream. ENJOY!!! I also like to do the same but change out the DiVinci carmel for DiVinci Almond or Coconut or German Chocolate......  YUM-O! OR Use vanilla protein powder and add DiVinci Toffee syrup!  Just make sure that it's the sugar free kind.  netrition.com carries many flavors at a great price. ok...I need a shake - haha!

Hey girl! Hope you're doing better. I feel ya on the protein. I, at 8 weeks out today, still some days, have trouble. We use the same office, although Dr Bautista did my RNY. I am guessing that Jeanine or Maya are wanting 50-60 grams of protein in a day? I would just do your best. You probably, if memory serves me correctly, just had your first food increase a week ago, to soft stuff. Like, I said. Just do your best and increase each day as much as you can. Good luck hun!

Good afternoon.  We had the same surgeon...just a few years apart!  Are you eating pudding or yogurt?  They sell a product at Vitamin Shoppe called Any Whey.  It is the only powder that I know of that is both tasteless AND withstands to cooking.  I use it frequently, even after three years + out.  I do use several other supplements as well, but this one withstands the heat so I can cook with it.  My family doesn't even know it has been added.  I would stay away from the bullets at this point.  They are ok, but not the BEST kind of protein for us and your pouch is still very new.  This is just my opinion.  I am in Richmond and would be happy to meet with you and give you some samples of what I have if you want.  I have some Nectar samples, too.  It is hard to get everything in at first but as long as you do your best then you will get there.  Hang in and keep the faith.   Tammy

I for one do not use the protein bullets, for one they taste horrible to me . I gag everytime I try to do one .I have not seen true studies that show me that I can use them as a suppliment other than a collegen based amino acid that is great for healing . Some here use them daily , but for me I stick to what my surgeon and my bariatric nutricianist tell me to use .   But to each their own . And for me , I prefer whey protein and isolates. Dr. Hutcher does reccomend this . He should have also given to you a list of things to eat post op . One being the Carnation Instant Breakfast Sugar Free Mix . With FF Milk ?  If you are not crazy about milk products , try the Nectar produts. They are a juice based product . You can find them at the Vitamin Shoppe or on line . Fuzzy Navel , Peach Tea come to mind . They taste really good to me . These two are also Whey concentrate and Isolates . You can also take unflavored protein and add it to chicken broth . This for me was a treat as it made the broth creamy .  Hope you find something soon , if not give Janeen a call , she can help you there at the office .  Natalie

Also to add , if you want to try the AchievOne .. these are the coffee tasting protein drinks , I have gotten clearance from Hutchers office to use them . Check out www.bumblebeecottage.net  Jill Dennis our very own local distributor has these , and they are priced much lower than most others . She also has the bullets if you want to try them .  I will call her tonight and let her know you may be calling her .  Get ready too , she is selling vitamins that will knock your socks off .. so fresh and made for Bariatrics and priced really well .  Nat
