Today's Fitness Tip

I know I am behind on the fitness tips and I am really glad that you guys are enjoying them.  So, here's a tip for today......

Slow Down.  When working with weights (no matter what the size is), we need to work at a super slow pace to get the results we want.  When performing strength training moves, we tend to rush through the moves, using inertia to move the weight (for example, swinging the upper body to a bicep curl) instead of using the muscle to move the weight.  But, when we do this, we don’t perform the move correctly and end up either injuring ourselves or not getting the results that we want when we worked so hard.  So, to get the results that we want for all of the work we are putting in, we must slow down the pace – this is a time where the turtle really does win the race.  This is because slow muscle contractions work your muscles more thoroughly, because the time they remain contracted is longer and must work harder to remain contracted.

So, slow down your pace to a four count and watch your results improve.
