lapband patients from VA
Thanks! I need all the support I can get. I have totally fallen off the wagon. Are you going to attend the meet and greet on Sat? I plan to attend but my be late due to my husband working. I am so excited. Did you have band or RNY? When they said band is slow with losing weight I didn't realize it was this slow. I feel like I am on a freight train and want to be on Amtrack LOL!! But I plan to jump back on board and get to work. I didn't go through all of this for nothing.
Hi again,
Yes, I'm also a lap-bander. I had my surgery on 3/6/07. I have lost 65 pounds and even though it is slow it is steady. I'm hoping the slower weight loss will allow my skin to tighten and firm up, but I'm starting to have my doubts about that!
I will not be attending the Meet and Greet BBQ at Jackie's sorry to say. I wish I could however I have the chance of a lifetime vacation to Hawaii and am leaving on Friday the 27th. My husband is out on a USNS oiler outside of Honolulu and coming into port of Friday also. We'll be staying for about 10 days.
Sorry to missing the opportunity to meet up with you. Ask Jackie for my personal email addy and I can buddy up with you.

Hi Fergie! I know how you feel, believe me. I will have my 1st anniversary for surgery July 16 & still haven't lost 40 lbs yet. I, too, chose this form of wls because it was loss at a slower rate, but I admit getting discouraged more often, especially when I see my fellow "sisters & brothers" who had bypass losing weight so much faster than me. But then I have to remind myself that my procedure is completely different from theirs. We don't have the restrictions that they have so it's much easier to sabotage ourselves. Such as I can eat sweets & not go through dumping. I can eat bread & rice & pasta without too much difficulty, although if I get lazy & drink during my meal, those 3 things will get stuck. Then I'm either in terrible pain or running to the bathroom to throw up. But I'm not ready to give up on this thing. I have spoken to at least one lady that has had total success so if she can do it, so can I. No matter what form of wls any of us have had, it's still a work in progress & its for a lifetime. Just keep coming back here...we have a terrific, close-knit group...a family, really...and you are certainly welcome to join in the fun, as is the other two folks that chimed in. I live waaaay out so I don't get to participate in any support groups, so this is it for me. Lapbanders unite!!! LOL
