I have some questions..... I just had surgery on June 10th, and am doing really well.  I am a little confused about the protein though.  Are the Profect and New-Whey protein ok to take?  I have heard the protein in them isn't what we (GBS patients) need.  I do get one shake in, first thing in the morning.  I bought some of the New-Whey protein and they are terrible, but easy to get that protein in.  Do any of you have any recommendations?  Thanks!!!

These are collegen based proteins . As GBS patients we need whey protein isolates and whey protein concentrates. These will give us the full 21 amino acids needed for everything our body craves .  I have used the Profect bullets for plastic surgery healing , as they are good for that . But for me , I stick to Whey . I use AchievOne . 2 A day keeps my surgeon .. well .. Happy !!  Try this site and look around .. www.bumblebeecottage.net  Hope this helps .  Nat

I have talked with Profect about this some time ago and as long as you take the bullets while you have food on your stomach it will mix with the amino acids just fine. I have been taking the bullets for a couple of years now and my labs are just fine. Ultimately the labs will tell you how your body is doing. As for the Achieve Ones I was talking to a protein manufacturer yesterday about them because the new ASMBS guidelines issued last week state that whey protein isolate was better than whey product concentrate and they should be updating their  web site soon to reflct this if they haven't already.  Now Achieve One staies it used whey but when you read the labels and research it, it actually uses Milk protein concentrate - there is whey contained in milk protein but  milk protein is roughly 20 % whey protein and 80% casein. Casein is a good protein, but is more slowly utilized.  Milk Protein Concentrate is a little like whey protein concentrate.  Here is an excerpt from another website: ---------------------------------------- Commercially, MPCs are available in a range of protein levels, from 42% to 85%.   Typical MPCs offered are MPC42, MPC70, MPC75, MPC80 and MPC85.   As the protein content of MPCs increases, the lactose levels decrease. For example, MPC42 is 42% protein and 46% lactose. ---------------------------------------- I don't know what % this product uses. So I have no real answers for you - just data.... I take the bullets and like them because I do not like almost any other protein except chocolate Unjury in my protein balls........ Not sure if this helps or confuses you... Jackie

Hi, I had RNY Gastric Bypass with Dr. Moazzez on May 06, 2008.  I have found for me the best protein drink is from Whey Gourmet.  I order it online from www.fitnessone.com .  If you type Whey Gourmet in the search box it will pull it up for you.  They have several different flavors, which I like.  I mix it with 1 cup of skim milk and I find it to be good.  Unjury is another one, but I don't like it as well, and they don't have too many flavors.  Well, I hope that helps.  Take care.
