Hi,  I am going through some major depression right now, enough so that I think I may benefit from seeing someone.  Can anyone in the Virginia Beach area recommend a psych doctor?  I have gone to one clinic, and to say the least I left there feeling angry, and I didn't really have any issues at the time.  I am hoping someone has a Dr. that will listen and give me good feedback and is sympathetic and caring.  The lady I saw pretty much read right off a sheet of paper, and I got to watch her write my responses.  I would need this Dr. to accept Tricare Prime.  I know this is common post-op, but I am really a basket case.  Also if anyone in the area has been through this and could offer me some advice on how to deal with it, please send me a message and I can give you my number so we may talk.  I feel desperate to talk to someone going through the same thing as me.  The surgery I mean.  Maybe a weight loss buddy, I don't know, what do you all think.  BTW if you are at all feeling sad, don'****ch the ASPCA commercial with all the sad animals, it sent me into hysterics.    Lisa

Sending you big ((HUGS)).  You are not alone.  A lot of us go through this.  With you being so early out, those fat cells are releasing all those extra hormones into your system & you are still trying to get that anesthia out of your body.  Hang in there.  I just recently started medication for my depression & it is helping me a lot.  I hope you are able to connect with someone and feel better soon.

That is wonderful that you are self aware of what your body is going through and that you recognize what your needs are.  I have been through a lot growing up and have been through many mental health professionals.  I do not live in VA Beach, so I do not have any recomendations.  However, this is my advise I give to those in search of professional help, loo****il you find the right fit.  This is a serious doctor and you want to find one that will fit right for your needs.  Shop around.  Many hugs!!

Lisa, I know what you mean about the ASPCA commercial. I saw it yesterday and felt like running out to the pound and bringing home a dozen strays. My wife stopped me. Also, I am so sorry you are having a tough time. I pray that you find the doctor that you need and that you feel much better soon. I would recommend my psych except that he is in NoVa. Please be kind to yourself. Remember that you are a child of God and that He loves you very much and cares very deeply for you. People on this board also love you and admire you. This difficult time will pass and you will feel better. Joe

Good am Lisa, Having struggled with depression and finally get the CORRECT diagnosis I can say that I sympathize with what you are going through and how you are feeling. I'm not sure about a suggestion in the VA Beach area however, I'd suggest starting with your PCP and seeing if they can suggest something for you at this time to get your a bit more stabilized and consider attending a support group as often as you can along with finding someone who you can talk with on a regular basis. I'm finding that our local gathering of folks here and me getting out more with them and other friends is helping me tremendously. I'm not a big TV watcher and am always doing something and find that occupying my time in nature really & truly helps a great deal. Btw, you have a PM. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Good morning. I'm sorry you are feeling so blue. I've fought depression (amongst other things) all my life so I totally feel you. I haven't had the surgery yet though so I can't be of advice on any of that. If you feel like driving to Chesapeake, my psychiatrist and therapist are really good. PM me if you want their numbers. :) Sending you big hugs!                                         Jamie
