So just curious to see how many calories people consume each day, I have started tracking my food again at dailyplate and that crazy thing says I should be consuming 2500 calories to lose 2 pounds a week, so I know with our surgery that is not correct. Just interested in what others do :)

Oh lord no I get in about 1200 does this sight get your height and weight as your goal? something dosent seem right there. Glad your keeping track though how many calories are you actually getting in during a day? I know some get in more depending on there exercise for the day as well and men are more than women. Im sure you will get varied ones we are all different sizes and at different stages.

I use the daily plate too, to log my food intake. According to what they say, to lose, I believe 5 lbs a week, I should be consuming 1000 calories a day. That is what my surgeon has said but being only 7 weeks out, it is hard.

At 2 1/2 years out, I am supposed to be at about 1200 a day to maintain.  If I was exercising strongly it would be more in order to compensate for what I burn.

Hi Karen,  While I know that they base this figure on your age, height, weight and daily activity that number does seem a bit high to me.  In reading some information on the daily plate website, when choosing your activity level it suggests that you choose the level that pertains to what your activtivity level is for your job and not including your exercise.  The reason for this is that when you track your exercise on a daily basis, it will automatically recalculate the amount of calories you are allowed for that same day that you exercise.   If you are already doing all of these things then I am not sure what to advise.   Hope this helps somewhat.

My surgeon's office says the "magic number" is 1000 calories.  I do about 800-1000 calories depending on what type of dinner I choose and if I have an extra protein supplement/shake.

Karen,  Keep in mind the Daily Plate is for those that have not had WLS .  As for me , at 4 years post op , I get in around 1200 to 1500 calories . Protein is always first !  Take care ,  Nat
