Looks like you did well bringing your A1c down in a relatively short period of time.  That's good.  I know how frustrating it can be when you think you're doing what you've been instructed to do & to not get the expected results.  But try not to give into temptation, such as the brownie.  My temptation is peanut M&Ms.  Anyway, believe me when I say that once you find that "sweet spot" in controlling the diabetes, everything will fall gracefully into place.  As for the 1800 cal diet...has anyone suggested that you have a session with a Nutritionist so that you can get some clear guidance?  Likewise, have you had an opportunity to take some classes on diabetes management?  Unfortunately most of the PCPs out there simply tell us "you have diabetes" & then just leave you to your own devices to try to figure it all out by yourself.  Every hospital offers diabetes management classes & most, if not all, health insurances cover the costs.  So there's a couple of ideas to help you with your journey.  It really stinks that you had to go through so much crap.  I like that you appeared to get ticked off at me...at least I know I got your blood pumpin'...lol.  I'm also glad to know that you still love me.

Hugs!
Ann

Sweetie I did get ticked off but after thinking and sleeping I am over it. I have had diabetes mangement and talked with a diatician and her suggestion was to try for breakfast a sandwich or oatmeal and a piece of fruit and for lunch a tv dinner like weigh****chers, healthy choice I tried and got tired of eating the same thing everyday. I know that I have to watch my carbs and that if there is say 15grams of carbs and 10 grams of fat I take the grams of fat away from the carbs. I am allowed something like 35 grams of carbs per meal and 15 g of carbs for a snack.I have had other sweets and had no problem but that is going to stop. So far today I have had a cup of oatmeal, banana for breakfast. Lunch I had a subway club and diet drink, a treat that Kat got me a ice cream cone from dairy queen. Like I told her how am I to get in 1800 calories when what I have had so far is about 7 or 800 calories and I only have one more meal and maybe 2 snacks. I have had my nails and toes done and went walking around walmart and we parked way out in the parking lot which I do not usually do. It felt good to do the walking. Yesterday as soon as I was able to get up I started walking around the hall and kept that up I wanted to get moving and not stay in the bed. Right now I am pretty proud of myself for what I have done and will be doing. If you have any other suggestions please feel free to let me I am  know, I am open to it. Again thank you for your prayers.

I'm so proud of you for all your walking...good job.  Ummmm...Sweetie, either you were given the wrong information or you misunderstood, but it is not the fat you deduct from the carb count...it is dietary fiber.  HUGE difference.  Fat content does count, but dietary fiber is deducted.  As for other suggestions, you sound like me...carb addiction!  I admit it.  Or at least I USED to be.  On the rare occasion that I have a burger, I get the kiddie size then throw away the top of the bun...you'd be surprised at what a difference that makes.  Or, I have discovered that you can order any kind of sandwich, to include burgers, without the bun at all!!  You mentioned the Subway sandwich...maybe opt to delete the bread & see how you do with that.  You'll still get the protein & roughage from the meat & veggies, but barely any carbs at all & you'll still feel satisfied. Ok, I'm off to Lowes.  We've got another big storm coming & a slight flooding problem in front of my garage door so I need sandbags.  Keep us posted with your progress.  I want to help in anyway I can, even if all I can do is **** you off....LOL!!!!

Hugs!

It feels good to be home I think. Getting alot of fussing at but that is to be expected. I would like to know the difference of being in the hospital and be home in the hospital my sugars were high and I wake up today with a sugar of 90. My stomach feels like someone beat the devil out of me.

Well Pat let me say this for you on your behalf my mother has sugar problems as well. And she was on the meds and played w/ them and it got out of hand because she did this or that I wont get into the specifics because we know what they are  seems you have heard them  mom ended up in the hospital sorta like you w/ the throwing up cramps pain etc. headache so bad she couldnt hold her head up and she had the morphene ended up over night and sent home w/ more meds (pills) this up & down w/ the sugar levels went on for a year before she ended up w/  pneumonia and until then and sugars shooting into the 500 and above did they put her on the inslin shots 3 a day now she takes thing more seriously (not that your not) but she eats her meals like she should but she also my point in this has the low sugars now so what her Dr has her soing is she has to  keep record all through the day of her sugars so if your not doing that maybe you might try doing that so you can show the Dr the foods your eating when and what times your testing your blood so he can better get a check of whats going on. I hope  and wish you the best in this , its a stuggle but like already said you can do it!!!
