Book Recommendation

Ok...while at Costco the other day, I stumbled across this book called "Eat This....Not That". The book was put together by Men's Health magazine and it shows if you go to a chain restraunt or fast food place, what to eat over what not to eat.   For many, eating at this places is something that we do not do, but the book is VERY enlightening.  For example, a Hardee's biscuit...no ham, no sausage, no steak, no honey, no butter....JUST biscuit is over 300 calories and over 25 grams of fat.  HOLY COW!!!! A smoothie from Jamba Juice has the amount of sugar that is equal to 2....TWO....pints of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. At Dunkin Donuts, the egg Mcmuffin thing is a better choice than the bagel with cream cheese. 1 Outback Steak house Chili-Cheese Fries is 2900 calories (Even split 4 ways is a TON of calories and fat).  1/2 order of the Bloomin Onion is 1100 calories. It also includes cereals, yogurt, juice, frozen entrees (including South Beach and Healthy Choice)and many other items.  The Pepperidge Farms Chicken Pot Pie is considered to be the worse frozen food item in the store. Definately worth the 10.00 I paid for it.  It's got full color pictures, and with some food items tells you what you would have to do to burn it off - like climb the Eiffle Tower 2 1/2 times to burn off a particular food item. Book is also sold at Barnes and Noble............

I am glad you brought this to my attention. I really had a hard time on vacation last week. I think I made okay decisions. Of course the family wanted to eat out alot, but I was sorta lost on what to order. I did lose 1 pound while on vacation, that's never happened. So I guess I did okay.  Thanks, Penny

Going to Paris for this activity would be great...but then there's always the wine, pastry, and fois gras temptations that would just add to the calories!

Most likely is the same book.  I may not use it to its full extent, but just KNOWING what it contains will definaetly keep me at bay.  AND...will also help Patrick make better choices since it was the book and not me (haha).
