Rough day....

So I finally get the dizzy spells and upset stomach cleared up with more protein intake and vitamins...and now I have some kind of an AWEFUL infection! Lil bit about me...I have had reaccuring bladder and urinary track infections since birth. Ive had every antibiotic and been seen be every specialist..not to mention every medical procedure you can think of to try and solve the issue but it's never been solved. To the point where most of the time I have no clue that I even have them Where as other people who dont have them as frequently as I do would be in bed and misarable! So when I tell you that Im in pain that means it's BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to have a drug test done this am for a interview I had on monday and I thoguht I would NEVER be able to fill the cup enough for them to measure anything. And when I was finally done the color was SO DARK you would have thought I poured tea into the cup! I decided that I coldnt tkae the pain, pressure and discomfort any longer than I had to so I started taking an antobiotic I was prescribed recently ( right before my surgery ) for an infection. My question is...will taking pills work for me or do I need to see a doctor to get a liquid form due to my surgery? Thanks for the help Brandi~

PS I have also noticed some costipation in the last weke or so which I have ALWAYS had an issue with. Prior to surgery I would only go about 3 times a MONTH! But after surgery I was going twice a day and now it's been about 4 day's!...What can be causing this and what should I do?

Change in bowel movements is fairly common after surgery....your diet changed, which is how that's deteremined....But I agree with the other gals. Get yourself back to a Dr. and please don't self medicate....what may have beeen fine for you then may not be what you need now.

My recommendation is to call your doc in the morning and get seen.  You shouldn't self medicate, regardless of whether you had WLS or not.  I hope you get to see the doc ASAP and get to feeling better!  :)

Sorry this is happening. As a nurse I am going to tell you to talk to your MD. He/She could better tell you about your meds. Congrats on the job interview. Where are you wanting to go to work? SherylLynn

Good am Brandi, First and foremost call your doctor this am and talk with them about what you're experiencing. I have not had experience with bladder/urinary tract infection(s) however, I do know folks who have and I understand they are extremely painful. About constipation; almost all of us face that throughout our journeys. I'm making suggestions here based on personal experience and what my doc's office suggests. Keep in mind your may suggest something different. Benefiber & Metamucial (twice daily at first, then once daily thereafter) Miralax (I understand you need a script for this) Milk of Magnesia (every other day, as needed) Dulcolax Fleets enema's Hope you get answers from your doctor this am and get to feeling better ASAP. All best!

Brandi sorry to hear you are feeling bad.  Hopefully you will get some answers from your doctor & feel better.  As for your questions, pills should be okay & work for you after surgery as long as they are not time release or too big for you to swallow.  There are some medicines that are safe & some that aren't, I do not have a current list for that.  As for the constipation, very common, especially if you are taking extra iron, are you taking extra vitamin C & getting lots of fiber in your diet, that might help move it along so to speak.  Hope you are feeling better soon.
