So I was on my front porch, admiring the latest flower bed Matt & I had just finished.  I noticed that I couldn't see my mountains in front of me or to the side of me.   Then I noticed really really low clouds, like barely above tree level.  Within seconds the sky got very black.  I looked at my outdoor thermometer & it dropped 10 degrees right before my eyes.  Then suddenly the winds whipped up & rain came out of NOWHERE!!!  I believe that a tornado passed over our house!!  That was about 2 hours ago but my butt's STILL in the basement with Matt, the dogs & my bird.  If Mike hadn't left Sage at the Culpeper farm, I probably would have tried to get the darned horse into the basement too!!  For the moment, it's cleared up but there's a second wave on its way from WV.  In the meantime Mike's making his way home so I'll be on pins & needles until he walks through the door cuz it's a long commute for him.  I love rainstorms, but this crap they can keep!!!

Hugs!
Ann

It's been a wild time here -- at one point they thought there were as many as 6 tornadoes between Stafford County and Spotsylvania County.  I guess there's been a lot of damage...haven't heard a lot of details.  I know the storms have been really strong here...we have one going on as I write this.  Makes you wonder about the whole global warming idea...

We saw tornados spawning from the sky last night but they were not touching the ground - it is the nearerst and strangest thing I have ever seen!  The sky was moving so fast! And it was so low! The rain and lightening etc were so loud. Pretty spectacular and pretty scarey and we had to remain very calm for my son's sake as he was getting very scared. His grandma is so scared of bad weather and she is rubbing it all off on him so we have to soeak to her about that! We lost power about 8.30pm and only got it back 20 mins ago at 4.55am - so that is why I was quiet last night. Hope everyone is doing fine and no-one had any issues..... Jackie

Good am Ann, I LOVE LOVE LOVE thunderstorms, rain and the mystery of tornados etc. I admit they are VERY frightening to see and experience. The amount of storms this season especially those touching down have been quite a bit ALREADY and we're just getting started. I became extremely interested with all these at a young age. I saw my first funnel cloud touch the ground after brewing from the sky and it tearing up things all around us but never touching us/our direct path. From that point on, I have honestly enjoy all the force, power, mystery, winds, rains and how it can rain on my side of the storm and not the other and what a funnel cloud looks like, how they form etc. Nature is so amazing. I also don't forget the many, many lives affected by these storms. I pray that no one was injured last pm and there wasn't a lot of structural damage done. In our areas here there have been a lot of homes to catch fire from lightning, lots of flooding and some structural damage done. I pray these folks can get back on their feet quick. I love to arm myself with knowledge and even with all that knowledge I'm a gal who loves to be IN the storms. Call it what you will but I call it divine intervention; a dance with the Lord. Anyhow, enough about all this. I hope everyone is all right.
