Daily Inspiration - Be like Ferdinand

Be like Ferdinand.

Remember Ferdinand the Bull? He was a mild-mannered bull in a children's book, who liked to "sit just quietly" and smell the flowers. But Ferdinand was captured and taken to a bull fight. He was led out into the arena so the matador could fight him and stick him with his sword.

But Ferdinand chose not to fight. He just sat down and enjoyed the fragrance of flowers in the air. He refused to let the negative actions of others affect him.

Action for the day: Today, if someone invites you to enter into an unpleasant conversation or a fight, choose to "sit just quietly," and don't let them push your buttons. You can be at peace when you know who you are and what you want--no matter what the rest of the world is doing.

Oh, you know I love ANY post that references children's lit! I love Ferdinand - my grandmother used to read it to me when I was little. A dad in my class read it to my kids this year, and they have family in Spain so he talked about really seeing the bulls and everything.

Sorry, I know that the book itself wasn't the point But I get entirely too excited about picture books...
