Awwww, thanks for the welcome, Lauren!  How far is Richmond from VA Beach?    I dont know the state too well.... have visited Manassas before, long long time ago and then Williamsburg but not too much else besides Va Beach.... Hope to meet you someday! hugs, Jill :)

My doctor has one in Suffolk, at the Harborview Medical Center.

Hi Blair,  thanks for the info.   Do you know if they allow 'outsiders' into the support group?   I believe Suffolk is not too far from Va Beach?   This would be cool.  I will look into it. Hugs, Jill :)

I'll check, but I know it's not like they take IDs there every time I have gone. If you want more info, let me know. I know a couple of other OHers who are patients there too. It's a really good group.

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.

Thanks, Blair!   I am going to look into these very soon.  I am trying to get full time employment with benefits and then that would mean a new WL doctor.... so that will help too.    I am overdue for my yearly visit and tests, but have not had insurance since october 2007.....  eeeek. thanks for adding me to your friends list too! hugs, Jill :)

I'm in Chesapeake, just about 15 mins. from you. I'll be having my surgery at Portsmouth Naval so I can't help you with support groups or anything like that but if you ever want to chat or vent, feel free to PM me for my phone number. I'd love to make some WLS buddies around here.                                         Jamie

Hi Jamie.    Congrats on your weight loss surgery.    When are you having it done?   It is such a wonderful decision.  I am so glad I did it and have no regrets (cept i wish i did it sooner!!)     I appreciate the offer of speaking/PM'ng...  I would like to extend that to you also!    Anytime.   You can never have enough friends or support!! hugs, Jill :)

Hi, Jill:  Welcome to the area and to the Va. Board!  As someone who has a lot of family in Massachusetts, I can understand the move!  hehe  I think you will find the weather a lot easier to deal with.  Though I don't have any information on groups in Va. Beach, there are some people on this Board who are in the area, and they may have info on some.  Again, welcome!  :)

Thank you for the very kind welcome, I do appreciate it!!     Did you ever live in MA?   I love it there but the econmy is pretty bad and they dont call it Taxachusetts for nothing....  lol.     And yes.. the weather has a strong influence..although I am not a 'beach' person.    I do like to walk the boardwalk/strip in the morning... lately though I have not been motivated!!   eeek. Hope you have/had a good evening!! Hugs, Jill :)

Actually, I was born in Mass., but Dad took a job with the Federal Gov't and we started moving...and I did until I went to college.  I have spent a lot of time over the years there visiting family -- I can't believe how expensive everything is.  Amazing.  When I heard how much my grandmother's teeny tiny little cottage was assessed at I almost fell over.  And then the taxes on it....yes, there is a reason they call it Taxachusetts.  AGH.  I am actually jealous that you are so close to the beach that you can walk the boardwalk in the a.m.  I lived in Va. Beach for a couple of years, though not that close, but I loved it there and loved the area.  I hope you'll end up liking it there.  Have a good night!  :)
