Hernia ??

OK, I had to break up a doggie squabble yesterday between my pug and my beagle!  They have never fought about anything but they decided yesterday they both wanted the same bone so......without thinking I reached down and picked up my chunka munk pug (27#) and threw her onto my hip and she fought me the whole way to the back door.  Now today I am very sore under my right breast but above my hip on the right side.  I am only 2.5 weeks out of surgery and petrified I have pulled something or created a hernia.  What would a hernia feel like?  I do plan to call the doctor on Monday just to be safe but in the meantime I need some advice from you all.  Thanks in advance for responding.  I always trust ya'lls judgement .    Susan  :)

Is there a particular reason you have to wait til Monday to call your doctor?  Mine is always available to me, so I"m just wondering.  I wouldn't wait if you can help it.  Always to be safe now than sorry later.  Hope you feel better soon.  Do keep us posted. 

Susan at 2.5 weeks out I would contact my doctor's office - you may not have done anything but in your first few weeks after surgery you are not supposed to be lifting anything...... and it could be a number of things - you are still healing so please call them  - if they are not available then  you should go to the ER and they will look at you or get in touch with your doctor's office where you may not be able to Here's hoping it turns out to be nothing serious... Susan, I understand that our clinic is closed on weekends but I think this deserves a trip to the ER. (I hate PNH's ER btw) You could have popped your staple line and the pain is just referring elsewhere. Please take it seriously, hon. Good pm Susan, How are you feeling today? Did you call your doc/go by the ER? Keep in mind its critical not to lift things and jerk yourself around too much. Hope you've gotten in contact with your doc and are feeling better. Please keep us posted! All best!

Thanks for all the replies and concerns.  After thinking this over Sat afternoon I decided to wait and I called Ms Boone this morning, I am waiting for her to call me back.  The pain did subside so thats why I decided to wait.  I hope I made the correct decision here, I will find out.  Our clinic at the hosp is only open Mon-Fri but there is an emergency room we could go to.  I just felt like what are the chances of getting a doctor well versed in bypass patients.  Perhaps I need to put more faith in the doctors.  If I had access to the bariatric doctors over the weekend no doubt I would have called.  Anyway, I am in wait and see mode.  Thanks again.....

susan - you're in my prayers. i saw the nutritionist today and you were on my mind the whole time i was at pnh. please be careful. if you feel anymore discomfort go to the hospital. they can always call a bariatric dr. in if need be. take care - mel
