I have a date at PNH!!!!!!

I finally have a date for my surgery!!!! It is July 14. The first date available was June 30, but with my husband's ship coming and going I had to pick a date he would be home. I have not told my work yet. I'm hoping they will be understanding. This is my first nursing job and I have since I graduated last year and I've  only been there since April 4. I'm to the point that if they don't want to deal with my time off then find someone else. I do LOVE my job, but this is the FIRST thing I have done for ME since I got married 17 years ago. I am taking 3 weeks. I am hoping the first two  I will be recovering and the last one I will go to Myrtle Beach with my Mom, Dad and girls. Hubby will be out to sea. Will that give me enough time for recovery? I also picked that date so I can add my beach week to my surgery and I can say I'm not cleared to go back to work yet!! I hope my plans work out!!! Look out  people, I'm a big girl and I'm on my way to the losers bench so you had better make some room!!!!

Congratulations!!! I know you are excited. I felt pretty good after 2 weeks, but not quite 100%. I think I could have made it to the beach. Everyone is different for sure. Best wishes and keep us posted, please. Penny

Thanks  for the info. I hope I can make it to the beach. I have not told my Mom and Dad I'm having this surgery. I don't think she will be as supportive as I need her to be. Again thanks!! SherylLynn

CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Boy, that will be here before you know it!  So much to look forward to....and as far as the loser's bench -- there's always room there!!  So glad you will be joining us!  As far as the recovery time...it is a very individual thing (as I am sure you know as a nurse)...might want to check with your surgeon to see what they recommend.  :)

wonderful!  :)  i would let your work know asap, but love your attitude.  YOU DESERVE THIS and should something negative happen, there will be other jobs.  Most employers want you to be a healthier person and will understand the need for time off.  I was SO nervous to tell my work about needing time off, but come to find out they were completely supportive of my having surgery.  I was so relieved.  :)

Such exciting news, sweetie!!!  And I couldn't think of a better place to recoup than at the beach!!!  Just pull up a lounge chair under a brightly colored umbrella & let everyone wait on you for a change!

Hugs!
Ann

Good am, CONGRATS on your surgery date! It'll be here before you know it. Good for you putting yourself first. Recovery is a tricky thing. For me I was back to work 4 weeks to the day after surgery and still had to take it easy some. I certainly hope you enjoy your time at the beach! That's where I'm headed VERY soon. We got room so COME ON!   All best!

Congrats!!!!  I think most doctors say 2 - 4 weeks depending on your job.  I took 4 weeks, by week 3 I was stir crazy but still a bit tired, I could have handled going back to work but I also have a mostly sedentary job.  Just see how you feel and go from there.

yay! Congrats on getting your date.  You are entitled to leave under the FMLA-- Family Medical Leave Act.  Cheers for recouping at the beach. Make sure you have PLENTY of fluids.
