Hi there ~ I am 2 weeks out today and just now able to get into my jeans comfortably.  I know what you mean about feeling preggo.  I believe it is alot of the gas and fluid you came home with.  I came home actually 18 pounds heavier than when I went in!  But it quickly passed through (gas and fluid) and now I am down 23 pounds!  Good Luck , it will pass through soon.  Keep walking, that helps get it out.  Susan  :)

Thanks Susan, it helps to know I am not alone with this. I actually came home 8 ponds lighter from the hospital and then felt like I must be gaining weight since I couldn't wear my pants but bought a scale yesterday and am actually down 17 pounds from my pre op weight. It will all be worth it of that I have no doubt.................hey already off my diabetes meds.

Good for you Vicky. Pre op I was on 17 pills, 4 breathing treatments and 4 shots a day. The day I was discharged from the hospital was the last time I took that. I am now only on 1 pill for my heart and NOTHING for my diabetes. Isn't it wonderful.

It can take little while for the swelling, fluids & gas to go down.  Try to be patient, keep on walking as that helps a lot.

Many of us were more swollen after surgery than we expected but it goes down after a week or so and then you see how much weight you have lost - good luck and enjoy the journey!! Jackie

I was swollen and had a tight belly from gas for about a week following my second hospital stay which would have made me about 2-3 weeks out of surgery.  I just wore elastic waist pants so i could be comfy.  it will get better!

Good am Vicky, I truly don't remember exactly when but I will mention I never wore jeans because they were so uncomfortable. It wasn't until I was getting into sizes 22's and 20's before I started wearing jeans. Most of my pants were 30's. The swelling will go down in a bit. Remain positive! All best!
