Also we will be doing some recognitions there,  so if you know someone who is coming that has done something worthy of recognition - over and above their surgery that is - please let us know so we can evaluate it and decide on best ones that set an example

All are welcome so please let us know if you are thinking about attending so we can make sure we have enough BBQ food and drinks etc. We may not eat as much as non surgery people but we still like to eat  - right?....

Don't forger your before and after pictures so we can display the differences! You deserve to show them off!

Meet and Greet BBQ/Health Seminar – June 28th 2008 at 1pm

 Location – Jackie’s House, 75 Riggs Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 . Tel: 540 370 0205

. Tel: 540 370 0205

.You are invited to Obesity Freedom’s (Jackie Thodos and Sue Baker’s) Meet and Greet BBQ/Health Seminar on June 28th starting at 1pm until ……….whatever time we finish……

We will supply the BBQ meat/fish/water/soft drinks etc and all we ask is that you bring a dish to share (with the recipe, nutritional information and your name where possible) - some kind of healthy dish we can all eat. It can be salads, desserts etc just something that everyone will enjoy……..  We will post the good ones on our website afterwards…….

Can you also send me a before and after picture  ( send to [email protected]) then so we can set them up on a board for everyone to see – please also bring your success stories as during the day we will do some talking about successes and you want to be able to tell yours.

We also plan to have some raffle prizes to add to the fun.

The health seminar part of it will be a short demonstration on powdered vitamins / proteins / anti-oxidants that we will be offering on our web site but we would like you to taste them and give us your opinion on them  – if they taste awful please say so - absolutely no obligation to buy unless you want to. No pressure I promise! But we have an expert to come and talk about them….. and the benefits for gastric bypass patient’s absorption issues…… they were also featured in the Healthy You magazine late last year..

So a little education and a lot of fun!!  Please feel free to bring your other spouses/other halves too – they are all welcome. This is a great opportunity to get in touch with others who have had the surgery, or thinking about it and just spend a few hours chatting, laughing – getting re-energized, learning new recipes

Just send me an email or PM to let us know you will be coming so we can plan to have enough food….. and chairs etc

Looking forward to seeing you all there! It is always a fun time when we get together!

Jackie and Sue…….

PS. If anyone has any other ideas of things they would like to see there (like Jill's Pole Dancing Video) please let us know and we will try to arrange that............

He Jackie. This sounds like so much fun. I hope I have replied to let you know that Cameron (probably) and I will be there. I have found 3 recipes to make for the event and will be making this over the next week or 2 to try them and see which turns out best. But when making them for the event, how many servings do you recommend we make for? Just to give us an idea. Thanks and can't wait to meet everyone.

You are both very welcome!   I look forward to meeting Cameron too - I am crazy about my son  and I know you ware about yours too..... As post ops we don't usually eat too much and the BBQ meat /fish will probably fill us up the most but just any size dish - we are expecting about 70 people but with very diverse tasts and certainly not a dish to serve 70 lolol!  Also finger food is good and snack items go down well - there will be plenty to eat don't worry - every time we have parties and people bring dishes there is always plenty of food - and they are not gastric people.  I am excited about this as it is always THE BEST fun when we all get together and get to know each other in a very relaxed setting...... and you make new friends for life ..that is what is unique about this community! I would love to be able to bring a case of water, since its a little distance to your house I am having a hard time of thinking of something to bring. If you can think of anything else non perishible that you might need PLEASE let me know and I can help that way. Thank you for putting this together and I can't wait for it!

Water works Karen!!   That would be great. I have lots of crystal light - also I will have LOTS  of bottles of Tropicana Zero calorie, Sugar Free -  Fruit Punch, Orange and lemonade as well as water,  so there will be plenty to drink for everyone.  I will let you know if I need anything but we are pretty much under control right now  - for now lol!! We are excited about it too.......... we were going to do this last year but run out of time so this year we planned  it earlier..... Jackie

Glad you told me cuz I was all preparing to make about enough to feed all those people. Although what I am making is just like a finger (well toothpick) food. Are you going to be having a sign up sheet or wanting us to tell you what we are bringing, so we dont all bring similiar items. Just curious. Gosh, I can not wait! The friends I have made on here, I hope to have always. People that TRULY understand what I have gone through and am going through. Big hugs.

Teresa, At the moment we don't plan to use a sign up sheet because people usually bring such a variery of food - or some announce what they are bringing so others don't bring the same etc - the only way I would worry was if everyone brought dessert lol! But we usually have such a wide variery where people can show off what they can make that is delicious and we all want to know how it is made.  And you do not have to bring anything cooked - vegetable plaaters, fruit platters, salads, little bread rolls (for those who est bread)  etc can be bought or made up easily - so people who don't cook don't have to work too hard at it....... All I would ask is - if it is possible- bring the recipe and even the nutritional value if possible with your names on them so we can add the really popular ones onto the web site, along with the name of the person who made it..... and sometime in the future we may even develop a cook book of delicious recipes - and if you have a recipe printed in it you get a free copy of the cook book! I have made some truly great friends since surgery and they will always be in my life because we have a bond that no-one can break  - and you truly have to have lived this to understand it. And one thing I love about these kind of get togethers is that people laugh and have fun and that sounds great! It is a real buzz! I am so excited to meet  you at last! - although I feel like I know you already! Jackie
