update on me!
I called my surgeons office first thing thing this morning and the nurse practioner, Jeanine, called me back. I went in to see her just as soon as we were done with Cameron's ear dr appointment. I even did a good thing and took the bottle of bacterim that the ER dr prescribed so she could see how huge they were and the fact that the script was written for 4 pills a day for 30 days. She was so irritated that the dr would prescribe those pills of that size to someone 3 weeks post op. But back to the main story. The test results of the culture were not back as of my appointment so she told me not to take the Bacterim, in case the infection I have is resistant to Bacterim. She said she didn't want me to have to struggle to take my antibiotics unless she knew they were going to do me good. I was told to call her first thing in the morning to get the results and then we would decide what to do. But of course, I became impatient, so I called the hospital emergency room and spoke with a nurse. I was informed that it was gram staph positive for MRSA but that was all she could tell me and that I needed to get in touch with the surgeons office. So back to calling her in the morning. Today I have been running a fever of almost 101 and been kinda icky all day and even more tired than when I first got home after surgery. I don't like that at all. I was finally falliing in love with being able to move. But in case I do have to take those pills, I followed the advice on here and went and got me some no sugar added applesauce so I could crush em up. Thanks to EVERYONE that wrote to me, sending me well wishes and prayers. It really does mean alot to me. I will keep ya'll posted after I speak to the office tomorrow. Hugs to all of ya'll
Theresa, I too am so sorry you are having to deal with this too. I sure hope they figure out what to do. smart quick thinking with the applesauce. So did you crush and take some tonight? Or are you only going to do hat if your fever gets higher? I'm hoping you can hold out till tomorrow, are you taking tylanol for the fever? You can get that in liquid. Feel better hon. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
Anna
Hi Anna. Thanks for writing. I actually was told by the nurse practioner to wait until tomorrow morning for the results to be in so they know which strain infection it is. She doesn't want me trying to get these huge things down if Bacterim isn't the drug that I will need. Once I speak with her tomorrow, we will figure out what I am supposed to do. I have been taking Tylenol but it's so sweet tasting that it isn't settling good. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. You're a doll! Hugs
