Good Morning!

I know I have not been around that much lately.  I have been on her lurking.  I started a new "job", same company diffrent location, and I am super busy.  Which is great since I was doing nothing at my previous place.  I am super happy with it.  Well things are starting to pick up.  I had my first preop appointment last Friday.  I am down 3 more pounds for a total of 30lbs lost since July of last year!  I am hoping to get down 9 more pounds before my surgery.  Surgery is in about one month.  I go in tuesday for my Nut. class.  It is a four hour class at the hospital.  Then the following Tuesday for pre-op testing.  I may not have to get that much done.  I had a sono done back in march on my ab. so I am faxing that report to the surgeon today. It is 9 days out of the 90 period.  He will reveiw and see if I need another one.  I had an EKG back in March so I am clear with that.  The only thing I need to get done is my chest X-Ray, labs, upper GI and interveiw with anestisa and op nurse.  I go in June 4 for my preop physical.  and I should be getting my CPAP machiene here withing the next week.  I paid the surgoen office my $1000 for the program fee, nut program fee, and for my pre op diet.  I start that on June 3.  I am actually looking forward to it.  I should do fine on it.  With how busy it is at work, I forget to eat, so I won't be wanting food that much.  The weekends will be tough.  I think this will help me lose my 9 lbs before surgery I am looking for.

My mom and I have a date on May 31.  We are going to The Melting Pot in Alexandria.  I am so looking forward to it.  I have always wanted to go and she promised me that if I got approved for the surgery she will take me for my last supper.  We will probablly go see Sex and the City movie. (LOVED THE SHOW) and hang around Old Town.  I am really looking forward to it.

I have been dealing with the increase eating.  It is like I want to eat what I can't have after surgery.  It is getting back to living to eat not eating to live menality that Ihave been working to break.  It is frustrating because I don't want to gain any weight.

I had been wondering where you had been lately. Your surgery is not that far away now. By the way, I love the Melting Pot. I don't know what it would be like post-op. So enjoy your last meal. Take care, Penny

It sounds like all your ducks are in a row.  Great!  Enjoy your date with your mom at the Melting Pot.  Try your best to fight the last meal mentality.  It's never as good as you think it's going to be.  I posted in an old blog about my "last" steak (for a while at least) and it was a horrible night.

Good to see you again Melissa! Sounds like things are all on track for you and it is just a matter of time. It is hard to fight the last supper mentality though - I remember the nutritionist who was there before Brittany telling us diabetics to watch the sugars before surgery because if they went up Dr Halmi would not do surgery! So I had to have my last supper a couple of weeks before my actual surgery lol!! I have to say there is nothing I really miss now at 2 years out.............. you end up changing the whole way you eat and so you don't have the same cravings..... Enjoy the Melting Pot! Jackie

Sounds like you are getting your ducks all in a row.  The wanting to eat is normal, I didn't have any eating restrictions before my surgery & I swear I had a piece of chocolate cake like every day for two weeks before my surgery.  It was amazing that I didn't gain like 20 lbs.  Just keep pushing on, your day will be here before you know it.
