turbo jamming!

Good news - I got off my bum and cracked open my new Turbo Jam dvd and did the learn and burn routine.  About 15min of practicing the 11 moves and then 15 min of sweat (for me at least) Bad news - I'm completely uncoordinated and now remember why I don't like these dvd's.  HA HA.  But I'm determined and will give it a go a few more times to see if I can pick it up. I like dance type exercising and need to find a couple of good dvd's for that.  I want to try zumba but am not willing (yet) to spend the money.  I really need to keep my eye open on ebay for a low price auction. As for my review of Turbo Jam for coordinationally challenged folks like me, i found the "core position" of lowering your frame down and tucking your tailbone under to be hard on the knees.  More so than it should have been and when I released the position then I didn't feel the ab crunch.  DAMN!  But I know position is key for these type of moves and all so I'll practice a bit and see if I can figure out a more comfortable way of holding position. Has anyone else tried Turbo Jam?

Stick with it...that's what  used to lose most of my weight and get my endurance up to start running.  In fact, I ended up doing Turbo Jam Punch/Kick/Jam today. Have fun!

Hey girl!

I have never heard of Turbo Jam, but it sounds like fun. Count me in the ranks of "coordinationally challenged"

I did, however, try Zumba last week. (It was at AMF and it didn't cost me any extra) I decided I was ready for it. Um...now. It totally kicked my butt. First off, I felt fat and ridiculous in there. But that's just me. Secondly, I was wearing my heart rate monitor and tattletale watch and I was in the "high" heart rate zone the entire time. (That's not where I'm supposed to be, but I don't know if it's really bad - I'll ask the sgt. tomorrow) It was fun, though - and definitely high energy! And I did make it through the entire class (and the watch said I burned 1630 calories, so that's good)

By the way, the "core position" sounds tough to me too.....good for you for giving it a try. I hope it gets easier with time!

I know that's not a word, but it's funny each time I read it now.  HA HA. 1630 calories!!  That definately WAS an intense workout.  WOW.  I don't know if I'll ever get up the courage to go into an actual class.  No where to hide   with all those mirrors and toothpick princesses.  :)

I'm curious now... I've not heard of Turbo Jam, but do have some other similar sounding exercise DVD (Yoga Booty Ballet, some others based on salsa dancing, etc). I have tried them a couple of times, but want to get back to them. I'm happy for you that you did it tonight though! We gotta start somewhere, I suppose.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for a good infomercial.  That's how I found out about it...on the boob tube of course.  :)  I was just looking at amazon.com to see if there was anything cheap on there, but couldn't decide on any new dvd's because the reviews were so varied.  I like that people give their reviews.  It really helps you find out a bit about it before you buy it.

Wow...that is fantastic!!!  You'll be amazed how quickly you will build up the endurance.  I had one that I used regularly, and before I knew it, I wasn't even breathing hard ... gotta love it!  :)

I use Turbo Jam stil to this day. I love any type of dance work outs. Man , I would love to come work out with you !! I am going to begin my NASM training soon, and want to be able to incorporate my workouts with people to inlcude tons of dance areobics .  I also do Shadow Boxing. I pretend I am boxing . I went on line to find out the form and stance. I put in my Ipod , normally I use for this songs from Rage Against the Machine. It is fast paced .  Keep at it , if nothing else but to learn some of the moves and just free style on your own.  For the most part , my morning work outs include 15 songs , with non stop moving .  Keep us posted .. I know you are going to really see results from this ! Hugs,  Tink

Lauren I LOVE my Turbo jam DVD's!! I use them a lot - I am much better co-ordinated now than I was in the beginning but they are such fun and the more effort you put in the better workout you get! I also have Zumba but am still getting into that - I know every word of the Turbo Jam so it is a comforting tape to me - but I always feel good at the end of a workout! Jackie
