Mother's Day with a 14 year old son

It started out with the promise that we will "do anything that Mom wants to do today." Then the weather turned crappy (yet again!) and I could not get motivated to make a decision on doing anything. So after a suitable amount of "waiting time", my son Brian asked if he could walk to his girlfriend's house and hang out there. Sure, no problem... but it ended up that he stayed there until 9pm - even ate supper with them! I was assured that all I had to do was call his cell phone and he would come back home "right away". It really was fine with me. I got a beautiful card from him that I know was from his heart. And it seemed that he felt a little bit guilty after he got back home last night (insert small amount of satisfaction here ). All ended fine, however, because we sat together with my husband and the animals in the living room and had fun hanging around for a little while. I was proud of myself that I could be flexible enough to have had a good day even when it didn't go as I planned - and I even got my exercise done! I had my husband take pictures of Brian and me for Mother's Day, and the two pictures below sum up my life perfectly with this child! We have a yin / yang relationship indeed. Enjoy those smiles. At this age they have no clue do they. Mine will be 20 at the end of the month and I didnt even get a card or  Happy anything but Im ok I got through it my son has some issues and I dont hold it against him like others do I know he dosent know any better. I just hold  dear to my heart when he was young and those lil handmade cards that came home from school. Because as they get older they forget what Mother's are about. But your pictures say it all Mary. Glad you had a good day.

Ok...it's like looking at my own son.  He does the same thing - haha.  But, at least it sounds like you had a quiet Mother's Day, and the satisfaction of knowing that one day, he too will have children of his own (and if you pray hard, they will be girls - hahaha).

LOL about the satisfaction comment.  I'm so glad you had a good day even if he didn't spend all of it with you.  And it is always nice to get a really beautiful card.  :)
