The Woman's Challenge started yesterday. How much did you move yesterday? Make sure to log everyday so we can progress across the country. We are in beautiful San Francisco today. Shall we stop at the Aquarium of the Bay?  From the Ferry Building to Lotta’s Fountain, Market Street provides a cross section of San Francisco history as it slices diagonally across the city. Lining the city’s first boulevard, dubbed the Path of Gold as it was rebuilt after the 1906 earthquake, are historic buildings, monuments and modern skyscrapers. Hear the street’s relevance to everything from the Gold Rush to Bay Area Rapid Transit and vintage street cars. Grab some water or your favorite drink, take your vitamins and eat a protein filled meal. See you in San Francisco!

Woo hoo! I did it... I got 30 minutes on the treadmill and even used one of the pre-programmed workouts that had me going at 4.0 mph max with a decent incline. At 4.0 mph, I had to actually jog a little bit to keep from falling off. I could not believe that I could actually go that fast! My legs are short and 3.7 mph or so was the max I could reach before. I was so pleased after I was done and did some stretching... especially becuase it was a rainy, crappy day and I had little motivation to do anything except sit and read. I'm actually looking forward to today's exercise time!

Hey there, just checking in! I totally forgot that the challenge started YESTERDAY (I thought it started TODAY. Duh. :)), and I didn't consciously try to get any extra exercise in. However, I DID mow my parents' gigantic yard, having to stop every so often because the grass was very heavy and wet, and sticking to the blades of the lawnmower. This took me between an hour and a half and two hours, but I called it an hour and a half just to be on the safe side. Turns out that mowing the yard alone for that long is almost 14000 steps  , which is good, since most of the rest of the day was spent sitting in traffic in one direction or the other on 95. (I've decided to try this this way, but haven't actually gotten out to get a pedometer... anyone have recommendations?? I'd like to pick it up as soon as possible, but there is a pretty cool conversion tool on the website for everyday activities, too.) My neck and shoulder feel it too, from the constant restarting of the mower, so I feel like I did a pretty good job. I set my initial goal of 10000 steps per day, having no idea where I'd actually start out. I'll have to increase it later on this week if I'm finding that I'm doing that much in a day anyhow, just from normal running here and there. Today's not going to be any good, though, I have work all day (where I'm constantly getting up from my desk doing this and that, but I do that EVERY day, so it would not count as extra), then driving to a support group meeting, then making it home at 9pm or so. Oh well, I can still aim for 6 out of 7. :) PS: I know people get this pounded into their heads, but I'll say it again: Exercise is key. I am almost 25 months post-op, and for some reason (I have been more active in general recently) I have been dropping weight again... and I think it's due to me moving around more.

The tough part of WLS is not the first year, it's those that follow.

Hey Beauties!!  Well, I managed 10,360!  Gardening, shopping, & just moving about (up & down stairs, etc.)  Today will be housework & still working on the horse trailer.  As for SanFran, I totally enjoyed myself last November when we went to Fisherman's Wharf & the next day we went the Haight-Ashbury.  SF is a wonderful city!!! Jen, the site mentions blogging.  Do you want us to do that?  If so, which form? Ok, I'm off to get moving.  Happy Monday, ya'll!!!

Hugs!
Ann

By all means if you would like to start a blog go right ahead!  I am only a 'team motivator' if you will. Sporty Jill did this for us last year and we had a good time. Just paying it forward.  Also at the end of the Challenge, you can get a certificate of completion. I still have mine from last year.

Thank you so much Jen for making a team for us to be in.   I'm really so excited about this woman challenge because it's just what I needed to get in the swing of things.  I was surprised how many steps I did just in my normal work day.  I can't wait to add my exercise to that and a little more each day!!  :)

Hey Jen, I have got exercise each day and logged it each day.  What I am wondering and worrying about is I don't want to miss the bonus.  Has it come up?  Will you shoot us a message when it does.  I check every day but it is different this year then it was last year.
