Cheryl Update
I went to see Cheryl this evening and she is not looking well at all. She is extremely pale, running a temperature, and pretty much out of it. She didn't even realize that I was there until I was walking out the door. I spoke with Cheryl's mom who is, as you can imagine, very upset. She said that when they gave her the blood she perked up for a short time but is now looking worse than before. They had to catheterize her because whenever she got up to go to the bathroom she was dizzy, and passing out. Her mom said that when she passes out she appears to be having some kind of seizures. When they initially catheterized her, there was a lot of blood but that seems to be better. They are bringing in an internist to see if he can figure out what is wrong. If they don't get some answers soon, they will open her back up and look around to try to figure out what is going on. On a good note, the surgeon who did her apendectomy (the same one who will be doing the exploratory surgery if needed) is a bariatric surgeon in the area. I'm glad that the doc on her case at least has a clue about our insides being different and what to look for in case this problem is related to the bypass...nothing has been said at all about the relation of what is going on to her RNY. Hopefully they will find something soon.
Many of you have asked about visitors. It seems that she is going up and down. When she is up, I know that she would appreciate the company but when she is down, she doesn't even know you are there.
Please keep Cheryl and her family in your thoughts and prayers...For those of you who don't know, Cheryl has a 5 year old litte boy who is a little confused about what is going on with his mommy.
Thanks! I'll keep ya posted!
Christine
Hey woman,
This just doesn't blend well with me.. I'm thinking they need to explore our girls insides, find out whats going on, and fix it.
Please keep me informed if you find out anything new. I'm going to visit her tomorrow in the afternoon, and pray that she is feeling better. I didn't get any email today, or I'd have been there.. I'm only a hop-skip-and-jump from her room.. If you think I need to run up and offer any morale, lemme know, I'm at your disposal.
Much love girly, and my prayers are with Cheryl!
Wendy
Hey Wendy!
Sorry I didn't email you but I really wasn't sure about the whole thing. Cheryl's mom is supposed to work tomorrow but I don't know that she is going. In the event that she does work, I think Cheryl would appreciate a little afternoon visit. If I found out that they are doing surgery again or whatever, I will post it or email you. I am planning to go around 5pm or so when I get out of work.
Much love back at ya!
Christine
Hey girl.. its all good, I was just really worried about Cheryl. I'm still planning on visiting her tomorrow afternoon. If you hear anything from her or her mom, that leads you to believe she shouldn't have visitors, lemme know, I'll respect that.
If she needs ANYTHING that I can bring to her, lemme know that too. I'm assuming at this point that she is still in the same room? Lemme know if you heard thats changed?
Love ya woman
Wendy
She is still in the same room. If anything changes, I'll let you know. As far as needing anything, I was trying to figure that out myself. She can't eat anything except clear liquids and she is really not functioning much. Oh, and get this, the idiots keep bringing her ice pops, jello and juice with SUGAR even though her mom has told them a billion times that she can't have that! What idiots! Anyway, I'll keep ya in the loop. I'm sure it would mean a lot to Cheryl to see your smiling face
Love ya!
Christine
Thanks woman, Please do keep me in the loop. I'm planning on bringing a protien shake with me tomorrow, that I can just mix with water.. I'll make her drink if she's co-herent!
Keep me posted, truely, im not far from her, and I have an OB appt around the corner tomorrow, so I can get there in a split second if needed!

Christine,
I had my ovaries removed in 4/05 and I was over weight. The dr. that did the surgery did a number on me and blamed all my troubles on my weight. I had to get 3 different transfusions for the internal bleeding and when I tried to get up the first time I became very dizzy and lightheaded still not sure if I passed out that time or not (my husband was in the room with me). The second time the nurses helped me out of bed and I passed out and had a seizure and when I came to the room was full of nurses that said I had a seizure but the dr came in the next day and said that I did not have one. But she was not there when it happened. I was taking a drug for nausea called reglan (spelling?) which has a side affect of seizures.. So when they stopped the med I started feeling better. Suppose to be overnite in hospital turned into 7 days. Have her mom find out about the meds and talk to her nurse about side affects. I am not a dr but thought this bit of info might help.
